Why Choose a Graduate Program at TU?

We have a warm environment where both
the students and the faculty are invested in every student success the
opportunities for growth are immense and everybody will find who they are during
their time here at Towson. I always say Towson gave me a opportunity to
play a game called finding myself. I almost thought I will be a software
developer for the rest of my life but I really found I’m a people person. I like to
talk to people instead of talking to the computer. Since I was little you know in
Pakistan we didn’t have computers or anything. Not knowing English and you
know not having any idea what college was like and being the first-generation
college student definitely was tough. Fisher College of Science and
Mathematics had taught me to never give up. During my time here at the College of
Education I’ve learned that we need to engage with the community and not just
inside of classrooms and textbooks. I want to do as much as I possibly can for
my students. Being in a program that’s about finding connections I’m among
people who are different and we connect behind this thing that we believe in. In
the College of Health Professions there’s been a real emphasis on the
importance of interprofessional collaboration as we’ve had opportunities
to learn about and actually work with professionals sort of across the health
fields and that’s been a great part of the program here. Everyone else in the
grad program actually really influences my work a lot and just being around
creative people and other artists and hearing what they’re interested in and
seeing how that translates into their work is really amazing. There’s a close
mentorship relationship between students and faculty and I think that’s the part that
I enjoy so much. We have the privilege of being able to teach our students
one-on-one. It’s an adventure because everybody is so different and when I get
calls for gigs it’s really easy for me to connect them with professional
opportunities so by the time they leave Towson they are already performing
professionally and teaching professionally. What companies look for
in a supply chain professional are the analytical skills and the understanding
of the big picture, so we’re gonna look a lot at technology and how we can use
that to optimize and make really good decisions on where we get product from
and where we move it to and how we move it. Our students need to be ready to look
big picture and how you do that I was a technician at a signal intelligence firm.
As I started learning skills here they started using me for my programming
abilities and that led to raises and more responsibilities and eventual
promotions. Towson University has prepared me for my career and I’m really
thankful for that. I knew that it was just the place for me to be I’m in
counseling psych and I’m so happy I chose that program. I had really great
one-on-one experience with my professors so being able to work directly under a
research professor has really helped me develop as a scientist. Being able to
reach people in a place where you can make change in their lives that’s
exactly what I want to be able to do and I feel like now I have the opportunity
to do it.
