What Makes Santa Clara University Awesome

What Makes Santa Clara University Awesome

I grew up 15 minutes away and when I was
trying to decide where to go to college we traveled the whole country, my family
I went everywhere. I realized what I was missing was right at home. My name
is Ryan Werner and I’m a sophomore in the Leavey School of Business at Santa
Clara University. For me Santa Clara is my home. When I come on campus I can feel
it, you know? I always see people I know walking on campus, professors remember my name, it’s just home. My name is Kaela D’Sylva and I’m a senior in the Leavey School of Business here at Santa Clara University. I feel like I can’t walk
around campus without seeing some sort of club advertising saying, “Hey, would you want like a piece of candy, or do you want to come check us out, or come to one of
our meetings?” There’s definitely a club for everything. There’s business clubs,
there’s a Mario Kart Club, painting, engineering, women in engineering, Habitat for Humanity. If you are passionate about something, somebody else at Santa Clara probably is too. And if there’s not something, you can
go out and start it. And they make it easy. Santa Clara has everything in terms of sports. It’s a rising Division 1 program
where they have an awesome club and intramural system, so if you want to play
an intramural sport they have those year-round and they have all the
facilities which are amazing. Into the Wild is a club. This weekend I think they’re going to Lake Tahoe. I went to the Grand Canyon with them last spring break. It’s fun because they
organize it completely. You can rent backpacks and tents and all of that for
really cheap and it’s just a great way to get off campus, especially for
underclassmen it’s a good way to get out in nature. Outside of Santa Clara we’re
literally a ten minute drive from San Jose. It’s super fun to just walk around enjoy the sun, shop. So just being where Santa Clara’s located
you can literally walk across the street to the train station, and I’ve done it a few
times and the train takes you right to San Francisco, straight to the Giants’
stadium right into downtown. And it’s great because a lot of the students who
graduate end up in the city so there’s always somebody to see, a new place to try. There’s so much to do in San Francisco
that you could spend a whole year just exploring there, and there’s always people
organizing group trips, and the University organizing stuff to the beach. When San Francisco’s an hour away, the beach is 20 to 30 minutes away, Tahoe is four hours away so everything’s here. If I were trying just to tell you about the school the main things I would talk about is
just how happy everyone is that is on campus. Everywhere you go people are just positive
saying hello excited to be here, and genuinely so, not the saying that. The thing that really set Santa Clara apart was that something about Santa Clara just felt like home. I just felt like this is where I was supposed to be.
