Is my posture Ok?
What do you like most about Kingston University?
Meeting people from all over the world I’ve had the opportunity to work with real
clients throughout my few years. It sounds like a cliché but Kingston’s
like a family. Having the independence as well to do everything.
Yeah. Being an adult Yeah.
Question: What do you do for fun? So I ride a motorbike.
I invite my friends over to cook for them. Playing cards
Watch Netflix I do diving. That’s part of a university
society. What’s the best way to meet new people and
make friends? It’s so important to come to fresher’s
week. Halls is the big one.
Join societies. Where are some of the places to
hang out in Kingston? I would say the riverside.
The Kingston market. Oh, TGI-Fridays.
Hot Rod is the place, honestly. In terms of nightlife as well there are lots
of clubs around here. Which one’s your best?
My favourite is probably The Viper Rooms or PRYZM.
What are your courses like? Honestly what I can say is that it actually
gives you the best of insights. Because forensic science is such a broad course
you can go into toxicology, genetics, archaeology. I really enjoy my economics course.
We are learning about the human body in detail and all these diseases. What you can do to
treat it. It’s so interesting. How do you manage your time at university?
Making your own schedule for yourself of things you’re going to do every single day.
We’ve split doing the notes. You can’t leave your essay or even your
dissertation too late. What support services does the University
provide? There’s health and wellbeing support if
you just feel too stressed with things. Also the university has a careers support
service. That’s good.
Is it worth getting a part-time job at university? One Hundred (100%) per cent.
Definitely. Definitely become a student ambassador.
You get to have a little bit of money What should I look for when looking for a
place to live? Location. Affordability. The people you are
living with as well. What’s really good is the university help
you to find your house. How long does it take for you to get out of
bed and into campus then? About thirty (30) seconds.
So, I think you planned well with that one. I planned quite well
What do you do to prepare yourself for a job after university?
Making sure you get the right grades. Making sure you go on placements.
Thinking about how I might answer interview questions.
Building a really fantastic portfolio. I will be a nurse at some point but I think
I’ll do a masters first and making sure I take every opportunity that I can.
What has been your most enjoyable experience so far?
Apart from meeting Davina. Partying and meeting Anisha. Having so much
laugh. In my first year we went to Spain to all these
different design studios and museums. Most enjoyable experience this year has been
in Kingston Crown Court doing a mock trial for my course.
Is there anything you’d like to say to students about to start at Kingston?
Pick the right course. Make sure you enjoy it.
You buy yourself a recorder to record the lectures.
Get the work done. Get in early. Go up to your lectures if you need help. Don’t
be scared. And also to use the university career service.
Make friends. Join societies like just join all of them.
Deffo. Just enjoy the time.
Should we redo it? No! No! Its fine.
