What is Indeed University?

Indeed University is an innovation lab where
we take, this summer, 85 new hires from all over the world, put them all in the same place
for 12 weeks, and we tell them all, “you’re responsible for coming up with new ideas and
executing building new products within Indeed. You get all the resources of a large company,
you get mentors who are some of the best and brightest that Indeed has to offer. You get to do all the fun and creative stuff
about creating a startup, but you don’t have to worry about the financial aspect. The worst case scenario is we throw you a
graduation party at the end of the time, and then you get to join one of the other awesome
teams at Indeed. And the best case scenario is you get
to keep on working on that product going forward as your job. It’s a lot of responsibility, being able
to think and figure out what kind of products you would want to build, and hopefully build
out something that’s successful, something that Indeed would want to adopt. Sometimes you expect to go into a company
and maybe pay your dues for the first couple of years, but here at Indeed from day one
we get to make a really substantial impact. I’ve been so lucky that I’ve gotten to
work with such an amazing team of engineers. We have people from all over the world like
Tokyo, Austin, Seattle, San Francisco, Hyderabad. They bring in so much variety and so many
different kinds of opinion and ideas. IU really teaches you how to be in sync with
your teammates. It’s really up to the participants to make
a lot of the product and tech decisions. They were the marketers, they were the UX
designers, they were the developers. They had to do it all. People work very hard and they put their passion
into it, making it work. Of course we share a common goal: we want
to build a lot of successful products. The way that we’re going to continue to
help people around the world find jobs is by continuing to find those inefficiencies
and problems and come up with new inventions to change the way people find
new jobs in the 21st century.
