Welcome Back to Clemson

Welcome Back to Clemson

August 29, 2019 2 By Stanley Isaacs

(upbeat harmonizing music) – Welcome to the start of what is gonna be another great year at Clemson. I’m excited to welcome more
than 8,000 new students to the campus this fall including all freshman, transfer students, and graduate students. I also want to welcome a
150 new faculty members which is a largest class
of faculty we’ve ever had. Whether you’re new to Clemson, a returning student, or
a long time employee, the start of a new academic year is always an exciting time filled with promise and
optimism about what is to come. It is also a good time to
take a moment to reflect on the values that we
hold so dear at Clemson. Those things that make
us such a special place and a special community. Honesty, integrity and respect are Clemson’s core values. They speak to how we treat
each other on the campus and how we treat our
friends and our guest. And I hope that they
are values that you live in your daily lives. The Clemson family is a
powerful force for good. But like any family, there may be times where
we don’t always agree with one another. During those times, it is especially important that we respect and even embrace our differences. Because the diversity of our
thoughts, our backgrounds, and our experiences
represented in our family actually makes us stronger. As we start the new year, Clemson is once again in the spotlight for all the right reasons. As you know, our first home game is on Thursday, August the 29th and it is night game. It will also be the first
game to be televised on the new ACC Network and ESPN GameDay will be
on the campus for the game. This kind of attention
is a great opportunity to show the world what those
of us at Clemson already know and that we ware winners
on and off the field. I’m very excited to cheer on
our defending national champs and I know that you will all do your part to demonstrate the hospitality
and good sportsmanship for which we have become so well known. Once again, it’s great to have everyone back on our main campus
and at our facilities across the state. I hope you have a safe, happy,
and successful academic year. And I look forward to seeing many of you at an upcoming event. And go Tigers! (upbeat music)
