The Universe of Vermont is located in Burlington, Vermont just 2 hours south of Montreal, Canada and 3 hours north of Boston, Massachusetts Burlington is a small community of 40,000 people but it has a large city feel We have everything from shops and restaurants to movie theaters and opera houses We even have studio art galleries, a waterfront with a bike path and beaches along the beautiful Lake Champlain Behind us are the Green Mountains and in front of us are the Adirondack Mountains We’re only 30 minutes away from skiing but even if you like the outdoors we still have some wonderful academics to offer you We are known for our animal sciences, engineering programs business programs and our small class sizes Our student to faculty ratio is 16 to 1 and you’ll really get to know your professors as not only are they your teachers but they become your friends, opening their doors to students and allowing them to come in, meet their families and have dinner with them at their tables At The University of Vermont we are just under 10,000 undergraduate students and out of that population 2% are international students so roughly around 200 students are international but over 100 countries are represented at the University The University of Vermont is a Division I NCAA school We have some great athletics on our campus ranging from men’s ice hockey who are rated currently 5th in the nation as well as men’s basketball women’s and men’s soccer and various other sports that are very American like lacrosse for both men and women track and field and various other clubs that students love to go and participate in as well as attend and cheer on as a Catamount Our facilities are fantastic We have a swimming pool that is Olympic size, we have badminton courts as well as racquetball and squash courts and various fitness activities this students can partake in ranging from yoga to kickboxing and taekwondo A typical day for a student is, first you may have a class as early as 8am in the morning or you may have a class as early as 1pm in the afternoon But you’ll have 4 classes typically throughout the semester 2 to 3 a day and then from there a lot of our students are interested in various outdoor activities and also they join clubs on campus The wonderful thing about The University of Vermont is on your first day at campus you are assigned a career advisor This career advisor works with you from the very beginning they help you set up your resume, practice interview questions with you and really prepare you for internships, externships and opportunities after graduation We utilize our strong University of Vermont alumni system and help students get interviews and internships at their organizations Many students intern during the school year on-campus and off-campus at various companies as well as during the summer months, both in Burlington nationally in the United States and internationally
