Now we'll have to watch the bloody unhuman Monkman again. Reply J J says: March 27, 2017 at 11:05 pm great match. I didn't realise Emmanuel was losing until the very end. Very sad indeef to see them go. I was very sceptical about Seagull's leadership style in the early matches but at this point I think that he's brought out the best in all of them. Reply Paul Abraham says: March 27, 2017 at 11:23 pm "… this time with three cities or towns highlighted, all of which have names ….. which when translated into English have a word or concept in common. You have to identify them." When they stated to identify the cities Paxman replied "That isn`t what I asked you for. What I asked you for was the concept." At the very least the question was ambiguous, but I`d argue that it wasn`t even that – the plural "them" clearly refers to the plural cities. "You have to identify IT" would have been better though it was anyway very poorly structured. Reply Tanya C says: March 27, 2017 at 11:24 pm This should have been a final. Such an amazing match. Two amazingly worthy teams. Feel Terrible to see Team Emma go. But I love the Monkman and Seagull friendship. Reply Yoiki says: March 27, 2017 at 11:26 pm When you knew something Monkman didn't. Reply George Lucas says: March 27, 2017 at 11:27 pm Monkman deserves better teammates Reply Liz Clegg says: March 27, 2017 at 11:28 pm Many thanks for the superfast upload. Much appreciated. Reply G Williams says: March 27, 2017 at 11:30 pm This should have been the final. I wouldn't have cared about the winner. Reply koipen says: March 27, 2017 at 11:47 pm 5:50 cheeky Paxman Reply Uttam Paudel says: March 28, 2017 at 12:30 am Even Paxo was thoroughly enjoying this match. Truly an episode that will stand the test of times! Reply Elisabeth Mayela says: March 28, 2017 at 12:33 am Thank you👍 Reply Joseph Karl says: March 28, 2017 at 12:44 am Bugger. Reply Dipesh Bhandari says: March 28, 2017 at 1:54 am Emmanuel did not get the mathematics and physics starters. They would've won if they had been a little quicker. Reply Louise Ricketts says: March 28, 2017 at 2:13 am two of the best teams ever. Reply Leopoldo Petrieska says: March 28, 2017 at 2:19 am great match, but i have to say i cringed when emmanuel cambridge answered "tolstoi" Reply Paula marglin says: March 28, 2017 at 2:37 am Thanks for the great show! Reply parkviewmo says: March 28, 2017 at 2:43 am Two of my favorite teams. Hill almost pulled it out for Emmanuel. Onward Mr. Monkman and Wolfson. Thank you for upload this delightful competition. Reply kiloscott says: March 28, 2017 at 2:56 am Paxman gives Monkeyman "Helbert" when he should have said "Hilbert" plus a couple of others. Smells weird. Reply Mercii Sama says: March 28, 2017 at 3:30 am it was thrilling!!! Reply Foxhawk says: March 28, 2017 at 4:51 am M O N K M A N I A Reply Alexander Ma says: March 28, 2017 at 6:35 am WHAT, IS, MONKMAN Here are just some of the topics that he was knowledgeable on during the show: the Gunpowder Plot, French physicist Louis de Broglie, Battle of Flodden in 1513, Korean demilitarized zone, 1905 Nobel laureate Bertha von Suttner, Conway's cell simulation Game of Life, the word "zany" from some obscure Biron monologue in Shakespeare's Love's Labour's Lost (I'm an English teacher and I had no clue on that question off the top of my head), the mathematician David Hilbert, the Japanese film (and eponymous psychological effect) Rashomon, the Latin phrase fiat lux Notice that none of these are about *Economics*, his area of study (and presumably, specialty) Forget "breadth" of knowledge, this is like intergalactic space of knowledge… Reply Ronan Casey says: March 28, 2017 at 6:47 am Well that decides it, my firstborn shall be named MONKMAN. All caps. Boy or girl. Reply Dick Wansink says: March 28, 2017 at 7:19 am It's a pity that one team had to lose. Thanks Bobby, well done. Reply michael fisher says: March 28, 2017 at 7:27 am Best UC match I've ever seen Reply SDSen says: March 28, 2017 at 8:20 am This was an eye opener episode. Just goes to show they are all human afterall, & they're only easy if you know them. I didn't expect to see Monkman stumped so many times even on Maths related question thanks to Cosgrove and Yang they pulled through. Monkman was good but he did struggle a fair bit. I think unless something drastic happens if Goldman reaches the finals they should win if up against Monkman's team. Goldman is on fire right now. I liked Singer here too he did well for his team Reply Meg Wood says: March 28, 2017 at 9:03 am Bobby Seagull is an excellent leader, really encouraging and supportive. Reply prison505break says: March 28, 2017 at 9:05 am what a match. Monkman definitely seagulled the deal at the end. Reply SDSen says: March 28, 2017 at 9:06 am I just love the way Monkman repeats his answer to himself if he gets it right. True entertainer! Reply lcflngn says: March 28, 2017 at 9:22 am I will miss Emmanuel SO much! Best "team" effort ever. What a great crew! Still can't say I'm not looking forward to more Monkman. Semis are so hard! Thanks so much for the consistent uploads, this US lady needs respite from #russiagate, omg… Reply Azat S says: March 28, 2017 at 10:35 am What a great match! Thanks for the upload. Reply Rizqi Darmawan says: March 28, 2017 at 12:05 pm horas bang, upload terus sampe final. Reply J MG says: March 28, 2017 at 12:19 pm 13:03 With a vengeance! Reply Arts Ambassador says: March 28, 2017 at 12:37 pm Derek Parfit, 1942–2017, one of the leading moral philosophers of our time, whose work 'Reasons and Persons' was mentioned in this episode. P.S. Thanks for the upload, including the occasionally very useful subtitles! Reply J MG says: March 28, 2017 at 12:41 pm Monkman is great but his pronunciation of terms leaves a lot of to be desired. Reply sizzledem1 says: March 28, 2017 at 1:21 pm Herbert West does it again!! Reply stylus59 says: March 28, 2017 at 5:57 pm What's Brexit to this? I mean, this is THE defining event of our generation. P.S. Monkman's unstoppable now. I'll bet on his team as series champions. Reply Ovie Imoni says: March 28, 2017 at 6:30 pm Goldman will have him for breakfast Reply New Ronson says: March 28, 2017 at 7:06 pm I had a feeling Cambridge would win! Reply kathirvel kumaresan says: March 28, 2017 at 7:28 pm paxman summed it all in the end very well…this is indeed clash of titans… Reply Somar29 says: March 28, 2017 at 8:17 pm lmao Chaudri looks like a nerdier Chris Strokes; if you know what I'm on about. Reply Paul O'Doherty says: March 28, 2017 at 10:56 pm I thought Wolfson was a bit intense , but in the 1/4 final he showed humour and a sense of the ridiculous which made me think – eh , he,s ok Reply Nisarg Bhatt says: March 29, 2017 at 11:46 am 9:40 his teammates too wonder from time to time whether Monkman is even human. Reply Bent Carl Christensen says: March 29, 2017 at 6:52 pm 2017: Goldman, Monkman, Seagull and Venkatesh Reply beaminge says: March 29, 2017 at 9:51 pm Monkman is quite possibly the most impressive individual contestant I've ever seen on the show. Reply anisha says: March 30, 2017 at 4:34 pm At 26:10 you can see Emmanuel's pain at the sound of 'Rashomon' . Reply mpking1374 says: March 31, 2017 at 5:53 pm I have grown to like Monkman over the months. Reply atsomp says: April 1, 2017 at 5:00 pm How on Earth did they miss Bakunin? Reply Lachlan Fountain says: April 1, 2017 at 8:56 pm Fancy not knowing it was Wilfred Owen, I thought that was the most obvious one… Reply 215Gallagher says: April 4, 2017 at 1:34 am Thanks for all the University Challenge episodes, we don't have it in Australia, the best we've got is The Chase Australia with Anne and Mark, says a lot about broadcasting down under where My Kitchen Rules rules. Reply Clara C says: April 4, 2017 at 8:47 pm The Wolfson team at 9:41 😂😂😂 Reply Calvin Chow says: April 6, 2017 at 7:29 pm At 24:49 it sounded like he said 15 milli molar, but from the answer he gives later on, only did I realise he actually said 50 milli molar. I thought he didn't speak quite clearly enough :/ Reply CanadianOwl says: April 8, 2017 at 6:16 am UW represent, Monkman Reply FarChu says: April 10, 2017 at 1:03 am This is the battle of human googles Reply Geraldine Palacios says: April 11, 2017 at 2:45 am How do they manage to excel in their own field and know all about other topics?I am just so surprised, I can barely manage to study for all my courses during a semester Reply Throw away says: April 11, 2017 at 9:48 pm I'd like an evening alone with Ward Reply LiManYi says: April 11, 2017 at 11:09 pm #monkmania Reply bubble tea says: April 13, 2017 at 2:43 am This show makes me feel stupid Reply Oz says: April 15, 2017 at 1:42 am I don't understand where was the battle LOL. I know it's easier now with Wikipedia etc, but where does someone start in order to achieve this kind of breadth of knowledge? Reply Dr Gonzo says: August 12, 2017 at 6:42 am Man Ward was absolutely useless lol. That being said, holy this was such an amazing round to watch! Reply Oliver Bayley says: September 27, 2017 at 3:45 pm "She was from Austria-Hungary and she won it for peace." <nod> <turns to camera> "SHE WAS FROM AUSTRIA-HUNGARY AND SHE WON IT FOR PEACE." Reply James Gronseth says: September 30, 2017 at 6:23 am About 25:30, Europa was the right answer as it is the smaller Galilean moon but Europa is not larger than our moon, it is slightly smaller. Just a slight mistake in the question I suppose or maybe I misheard it. Reply sarah854r4h says: November 6, 2017 at 5:29 pm 9:40 i just love how even Monkman's team is amazed by him Reply Maurits says: November 7, 2017 at 7:23 pm Monkman is such a legend Reply Oliver Evans says: December 6, 2017 at 3:46 pm 4:50 some communist? haha Reply Xx_FaZe_Rolf_xX l says: December 6, 2017 at 5:25 pm You can't F U C C wit the M O N K Reply Arun Ryan says: January 16, 2018 at 12:17 am Who came here for monkman 😂😂😂 Reply CJ Russ says: February 25, 2018 at 5:57 pm Can’t Barton-Singer sort his hoodie out, not sure why it annoyed me so much. And what gracious sportsmanship. All played their part and contributed well. And it was great entertainment. A classic . Reply Britishness Learner says: October 14, 2018 at 9:14 am I see people focusing on the two captains, but my attention went to Ward, the only female contestant. On a closer look her beauty is mesmerising (to me of course) Reply ReliefOrFight says: October 19, 2018 at 7:41 pm I love Monkman's magnanimous drink of water at 24:51, slowly retracting from his buzzer and taking a large, deliberate sip, resigning himself from the starter question, as if to say, "Aha, you see, I am but human!"… only to then be the member of his team to take a guess anyway! In my opinion, the greatest personality the show has ever had. Seagull also a top, top leader. Sad to see him go. Reply John Qiang says: October 20, 2018 at 7:02 pm Monkman, are you sure you are a Canadian? more like an American. Reply Kaitlin Bilous says: October 21, 2018 at 7:16 pm Omg Monkman vs Seagull Reply Ged Farnan says: February 11, 2019 at 3:43 am Justifiable praise for the irrepressible Monkman but i thought Hill was magnificent in a losing cause.
