[epic cinematic music, scenes of UB’s North Campus] [tab saying “highest national ranking ever”
over a North Campus scene] [tab saying “#1 public in New York State”
over a South Campus scene] [epic cinematic music, scenes of UB’s South Campus] [Dean Schulze speaks, scenes of students in labs, classrooms, studios] – We allow students to have those kinds of real world,
learn-by-doing experiences, which matter more than anything. [Student Hayden Harter speaks]- It gave me
the ability to really take what I was learning in the classroom,
and put it into practice. [Student Walker Gosrich speaks, scenes in
an engineering lab] – I think the most important thing that UB has done,
for me and students like me, is to make research, as an undergraduate,
so accessible. [Student Jon Bessette speak, scenes of student
travels abroad] – I think it’s definitely a once in a lifetime
opportunity to be able to step outside the sort of
world you’re living in right now, and experience something different. [Student Abigail LaPlaca speaks, continued scenes abroad] – And I realized that my experiences abroad [LaPlace speaks at UB] could translate and come back right to my hometown,
where I could make a difference. [dramatic music continues, scenes of students doing research] [Nursing dean Marsha Lewis in a hallway] – The research we do changes lives in our community, and around
the world. [Engineering professor Winnie Chen, scenes
of UB’s driving simulator] – One particular area we’re interested in is driver safety,
[Chen inside Davis Hall, scenes of driving simulator] especially today, there’s a lot
of talk about autonomous vehicles coming. [GSE’s Amanda Seccia, researchers work with
baby] – Our research is meaningful because it’s bridging the field of neuroscience with
education. [Communication professor Mark Frank, scenes
of communication research] – All of our researchers also have
an eye towards the practical, [Frank in his office] so it’s not just bland
theory. {Scene of communication research] It’s stuff
that works, and tested in the real world. [Video showing City of Buffalo, dramatic music
continues] [Video showing student doctor helping man
on the street] [students at Niagara Falls, and painting]
[Buffalo Public Schools Superintendent Kriner Cash, scenes of K-12 classrooms] – I think
we’re poised to be a proof point [Cash in an office] of how an institution
of higher education, [UB researchers help students with homework]
and a large public school district can work together. [UB’s Stephanie Cramer, scene of students
with model house] – There’s a serious need for affordable housing in our community. [Cramer in an empty room] Whatever these students
design is potentially, actually going to get built,
[students in architecture studio] so it’s a different way of approaching the problem. [Jacobs School dean Michael Cain, new medical
school building] – Having an academic health center
[students learning in medical school labs, man holding a baby] brings the newest things,
and the best people, [Cain inside the medical school building]
to helping to have a favorable impact on the public health. [Dentistry student Rachel Kim, scenes of UB
dental clinic] – Throughout the day, when you just kinda take a step back,
[Kim sitting at the dental office] and you look at all the great work that’s being done,
volunteers are here on a Saturday,
it’s a really beautiful sight to just kind of behold. [aerial view of UB stadium]
[footage from UB football game, with applause] [Footage from UB mens basketball game, game
announcer talks] Hawkins rebounded, but Dante stole it back. Gives to Harris in the corner for three. (cheering)
[Womens basketball coach talks to team] – You are ready to go out there and attack this
thing, [scenes of womens basketball team] not because
it’s a basketball thing, ’cause it’s your story to tell. It’s about you, and your story that come together
as a team, as a sisterhood, and we’re going to get our story told. [scenes of UB campuses, showing buildings, students, professors and classrooms with dramatic music] music]
[scenes from graduation, music continues] [UB students create human logo on football
field, music builds] [UB logo, music ends]
