“I’m on top of the world right now.” And rightfully so! Over one-thousand students
from University of Maryland University College celebrated their graduation from various courses
in Kaiserslautern, Germany along with former Airman, Mr. Jeremiah Wilson. “This is just under marrying my wife and
having two children. This is a big day for me, this is a culmination of four years of
some of the hardest work I’ve ever done.” Many of the graduates, like Mr. Wilson, had
to figure out ways to manage not only the stresses of school, but home life as well. “Having my son born on the first day of
finals in 2014 was a big one. Because finishing up school was usually him sleeping on my chest
while typing up my papers in the middle of the night.” The military influence was very prevalent
at the graduation ceremony as a majority of the students are either active duty, retired,
or veterans. “Here I’m graduating with a four-point-zero
and I don’t think I would have the discipline and the mind frame without my military career. Through trials and tribulations these graduates
have officially earned their degrees, some with careers, families, and other obligations.
Hard work pays off. Airman Deven Schultz, Kaiserslautern, Germany.
