TUM remains University of Excellence

TUM remains University of Excellence

This is a wonderful result. It is a big success for the TUM as a whole. With its concept TUM AGENDA 2030, the Technical
University of Munich is victorious for the third time in the Excellence Competition of
the Federation and the federal states, making TUM the only technical university to have
been consistently represented in the excellence competition since 2006. The agenda includes a reorganization of the
university in schools, talent development and human-centered engineering, with an annual
funding of up to 15 million euros. We actually had expected that our strategy
would be favoured by the international panel and as a matter of fact we got it, as we did
twice before. After about 20 years of proactive reforms,
TUM made it again and that shows that the development trajectory of the TUM is perfectly
in line in order to bring the university now from the national top-level into the international
champions league. In the centre of the future development are
the talents – particularly the mid-academic staff, that needs further development. We are focused on lifelong learning in order
to bring our students back to the university to cycle them back and to keep them successful
in the global labor market. The engineer has to understand what he does
and has to be able to charge the consequences. And this is also true for chemist, physicist,
medical doctors and so on and so on.
