Top universities choose Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) – LSE case study
I would say to other universities that if they want students who have got the overall language proficiency to excel at university, then Cambridge English Advanced is an excellent exam to ask for. My name is Alison Standring and I’m the co-ordinator of English at LSE. LSE is an outstanding institution. It’s situated in one of the most exciting and cosmopolitan cities in the world. LSE graduates go on to make a substantive difference to the world around them. It’s with students on the foundation programme and the pre-sessional programme that we work with Cambridge English Advanced. To be successful at university you have to be a confident and flexible language user. You also need to have a high level of proficiency in all language areas. An applicant who has Cambridge English Advanced has the listening and speaking skills required and the pronunciation, discourse grammar and vocabulary necessary to underpin all of this. Cambridge English Advanced prepares students effectively because they have to invest a substantial amount of time and effort in preparing for the exam. This helps to significantly improve their language proficiency. Candidates who have taken the exam will be confident and flexible language users and should be able to flourish in an academic environment.
