Tips for Life After High School Graduation
Hello YouTube! Kaitlyn here! And do you know what to do after high school graduation? (intro music) So you’re graduating high school and you know exactly how your future is going to go! Or you have no freaking idea what’s going to happen… Either way that is fine because that is life. But I thought since I have graduated high school I would give you my top three tips for things that you should know after graduating high school. #1: High school is NOT the “end all be all” Don’t sell yourself short after high school by trying to conform to some preconceived notion of what your life should look like after high school. For me, I had a boyfriend from high school and I had a community that I was very involved in at home. My problem was that I felt like I had to stay as the same kind of person that they expected me to be instead of growing and learning new things. Don’t be afraid to be who you are or even who you need to be And don’t let your past define you. There’ so much more to life than high school. So don’t be afraid to go out and explore it. Tip #2: Get a good education and that doesn’t just mean going to college. Don’t just go to college because you feel like that’s what you’re “supposed to do.” or that you really just want to get away from your parents and to party because that’s a really expensive party! When you graduate high school, you should be concerned with finding what you are passionate about and then educating yourself in it. And that might mean going to college. But that could also mean traveling, or finding and apprenticeship or just spending a lot of time at the library and reading all about what you’re passionate about. Education comes in many forms So even though you’re done with high school don’t let yourself stop learning. Or don’t just play the college game because that’s what you’re “supposed to do.” And if you’re not going to a traditional college, don’t let other people make you feel bad about that. As long as you are still educating yourself in some way, that is what is important. And Tip #3: Accept that you don’t know everything yet. Like not even close! You’re going to make mistakes. And you’re going to screw up. And you’re going to hate yourself sometimes, but that’s life! Remember to forgive yourself for those moments. And remember to take care of yourself and to value yourself because no one else is going to do that, unfortunately. And also, you definitely still need your parents. You may think that you don’t, but they still know more than you do. Graduating high school is both really exciting and really scary but I hope that you can take these three tips and and kind of apply them to your life as you go on into the beautiful future because it’s all going to be okay. It may not feel like that at times but it really will. So what do you guys think? What are your fears or excitement for life post-graduation? Tell me down in the comments!
