Student’s Passion for Agriculture Leads to Teaching Career

My name is Justin Nunes and I’m a
student ag ed teacher and I’m a scholarship recipient.
We always had gardens growing up and I’ve always had tons of pets like my
10th birthday my parents turned our greenhouse into an aviary and I raised
birds and our elementary school actually took field trips to our backyard so that’s
what got me interested in ag. Agriculture is my passion and once I got
to Davis the opportunity for me to teach my passion it’s perfect for me. In ag you get everything there is in a traditional class but you’re getting time management
skills, public speaking, companionship and so much leadership opportunities they’re all incorporated I enjoy student teaching, it’s one of the
best opportunities I’ve had in my life so far ranging from meeting new students
to working with my master teachers it’s an awesome experience and my greatest like aha moment was seeing a student that was struggling with a concept and then he
kept on pushing pushing pushing until like the light bulb switched and he knew
what to do and what made it even better was he was going around to other people
that were struggling and helping them and just like the chain reaction is
going from me to the student to another student it’s the small picture of like
what the potential I have as a educator
