♪[Upbeat music]♪ The whole purpose of international education is to bring the international perspective to the campus and this is in the vision and the mission of Skyline College. What’s great about international students is how they infuse into the culture. They add to the richness of the teaching in class because they bring in this global view to the curricula. The Bay Area is home to people who have moved here from all over the world and so if you are on our campus you would find a really international and welcoming environment here as an international student. [Speaking in Arabic] [Mohamed Ali:]
Most of the students when they know that I’m from Egypt. They get very interested and some of them say I wish I go to Egypt and see the pyramids. They get interested for the culture. [Wissen Bennani:]
The International Student Program at Skyline College is committed to serve the student from the day they come to us during orientation all the way till they transfer to four-year institutions. At Skyline College students are very fortunate that we’re located in between San Francisco and Silicon Valley and there is a lot of amazing companies such as Genertech, YouTube, Facebook, Google, that are all accessible for our students. [Suzanne Poma:]
In addition we are located between all these world renown universities. [Suzanne Poma:]
The Transfer Center provides specific guaranteed admissions to six different UC campuses. For international students I find that I work a lot with them on their personal statements to help give them that competitive edge. [Speaking in Arabic] [Ahmed Alhwashani:]
Skyline College is the key to transfer for the vast universities in this country. [Speaking in Chinese] [Roma Feng:]

In the STEM areas it’s really a global force and we see people coming from all around the world to work in this very economically sound region. And students as they go through the curriculum they have work based learning experiences that they’ll be able to use. [Wissem Bennani:]
We currently have students from 34 different countries and we give them opportunities to celebrate. For example we have the International Education Week. We have the International Food Festivals. The International Affairs Student Clubs is another opportunity for students to mingle with each other and to learn about each other’s cultures. [Roma Feng:]
When I first come to US, I don’t have friends but as school started they provided us events that international student can join which can help the local student or international student to understand the cultural gap between us. [Speaking in Spanish] [Sori Mosquera:]
My experience here at Skyline College has been one of the most important and amazing experience in my life. You meet a lot of people that are from all over the world. You share your experiences with them. You share moments with them – that’s really valuable. [Mohamed Ali:]
The classes are great especially the English classes for the international students because we do a lot of group works in class and we get involved with each other so we improve our language. [Mary Gutiérrez:]
Many of our students here speak more more languages than just English and so English faculty are very proficient at helping students feel comfortable and that learning environment and very often are using themes and texts that have an international perspective. [Mohamed Ali:]
The one thing I enjoyed about Skyline College it’s the useful resources. Whenever you need help you can go to The Learning Center or to the professor and ask and they are willing to help you. [Mary Gutiérrez:]
Students will also find support at the English Language Institute where they would be able to have support that’s devoted to international students. [♪] [Raymond Hernandez:]
