Hello guys, I’m Carry and welcome
today’s video. In this opportunity I’m going to be talking about what to do
during the first few weeks at the University and I’m gonna tell you about
the freshers week to start with. Well, during this freshers week you will find
lots of the stands around the campus you will be given lots of information
regarding sports clubs, societies, you will be given vouchers freebies like
discounts on food, on a Amazon description gym memberships more food
and you will always say like flyers and all information about all the parties
like the stadium parties going on through the whole week. So you have many
options to choose from And yeah many freebies not always come in handy for
university students. So do not miss those stamps they were in the freshers week
and if you are joining the university in January in February
don’t worry there are also lots of induction events and activities that
take place in terms of societies and sports club you can sign up to as many
as you want from my experience I tried and signup
for a lot of them but I couldn’t join or assist to every event that they were
planning to because usually they were on the same time, the same day so I couldn’t.
But you can try. You have tester sessions where you can like see what it is like if you like it or not and then you can just join them for the whole year some are
free somw you have to pay a fee there are a lot of options that you can choose
from so that is really good. Another thing you can try is to get involved with language there is this program called cultural exchange session where
you can join them by teaching your own language so you can be a teacher or you
can learn another language that is available. The classes are divided
normally between basic intermediate or advanced level. According to the amount
of people available for each class or level. The good thing is that you can
either share your culture with others you can learn from others and you always
meet new people. I personally tried to teach Spanish for a couple classes because it turns out it turned out that my games volleyball team were like around the
same time are on the same day that these classes were taking place so I couldn’t
continue teaching Spanish or learning another language but there are multiple
multiple options sorry so you can give it a go. And the best of all it is free
you didn’t have to pay anything my advice would also be for you to going
walk around Lincoln and around campus whenever you have the time. Even though
you will have a campus tour but on your own time if you feel like you want to go
for a walk just go because I myself found a bit bluster at the beginning
because the campus is very big and there are lots of buildings named different
way so when you get given your timetable and your class numbers you kind of
wonder what those letters stand for but if you know which building is in a
different place around campus you will not get lost. Or maybe you will but then
you learn what it is there. Something else you can use is a map that you can
find on the University website so you can just load it from your phone and you
will be able to see which building is where. Another thing you should be
familiar with is with the international advise team they are located in the
Student Support Centre. It’s important for you to know where this is if in the
future you felt lonely, or you feel homesick, or even now if you need any
help with your visa process with your tuition fees, regarding even
accommodation. If you need any legal advice you need to go to this place. They will be able to help you and all you. And all in all guys, just enjoy either the first
few weeks like you didn’t have any assignments yet and you are just making
friends meeting people just chilling some people partying a lot, not me, but if
you’re somebody who likes going party all night all day then just go and enjoy
have fun. And until next video bye.
