(upbeat instrumental music) – There were assessment techniques that I had never been taught
in the associate’s program that I use now and it just extends the care that I am able to give to patients. – Well, we try to be
flexible in the classes, to accommodate those
nurses who are working. All of the nursing courses for the RN to BS program
are done in the evening and they are hybrid courses, so there’s part online
and part in the classroom, so you don’t have to be in the classroom for some of them every single week. – To be honest with you, I
prefer real class interactions. I prefer to see my teacher, my classmates, the exchange of ideas. I just think York College
program is just perfect. – There are many hospitals are only hiring nurses that
have bachelor’s degrees and the students that we
get in the RN to BS program are students who went
to an associate degree or diploma program and do not
have the bachelor’s degree, but the really nice thing is you get 51 automatic credits for having a license. – This is the studies
I’m gonna be focusing on, while using injections into
subcutaneous or intradermal. I worked for about three and half years before I actually started at York, so to have a transitional
course was awesome, to kinda get you back into
learning mode, so to speak. Writing mode and research mode. I think my speaking
skills have gotten better, my leadership skills have gotten better and my experience so
far has been excellent. – Lets share an experience
from your situation where you had to deal with
someone that was kinda difficult. We try not to rehash what these students had in their previous programs. We really like to use the
experiences that they had and let them share those experiences in classroom with the other students. – The professors here are great, very enthusiastic, very knowledgeable. Just the level of education that you receive is a huge factor in why I recommend York to other RNs
to continue their education. – I’ve had students that have actually come to our program that have come from an all online program and they missed that classroom interaction and that’s why I think it’s neat, because we have a combination of the two. – I love the program, so
that’s the bottom line and I think I learned a lot and I am going on to one of the master’s programs
here at York College.
