Residence Community Ranking Form Walkthrough

Today we will be walking through the
Residence Community Ranking Form. By filling out this form you are
guaranteeing yourself a place to live on campus. Before you begin be sure to learn
more about Waterloo Residences and the University Colleges Residences to
determine how you will rank them. You will also be indicating whether you
would like to be included in a Living- Learning Community or LLC. Note that you
must accept your offer of admission to the University of Waterloo before you
fill out this form. Also you’ll need to make a $500 non-refundable deposit to
complete this form and guarantee your space in residence. If you successfully
complete this form and later decide not to attend the University of Waterloo,
your $500 deposit will not be refunded. That said, let’s get started! In this
first step you’ll be entering your Waterloo student ID number and birth date.
Next tell us if you would like to join a Living-Learning Community. Living- Learning Communities are available to students enrolled in the programs
defined in the descriptions. It is also important to know that Living-Learning
Communities are located in predetermined residences. What this means is that you
will automatically be assigned to the residence where the Living-Learning
Community is based. For example, if you choose to join the School of Accounting
and Finance Community based in Village 1 you will automatically be assigned to
Village 1. If you select to participate in a Science Academic Cluster you will
have the option to choose any of the available Science Academic Cluster
Communities. In all cases you’ll still have the option to choose your preferred
room style and request a roommate. If you are not interested or there is no
LLC currently available for your program select the last option and move on to
step 3. Don’t worry, academic support is still
available for students who are not in an LLC. This is where you rank your
preferred residence communities for the fall. It is important that you rank each
community with a number from 1 to 4, 1 being your first choice.
At the University of Waterloo we make every effort to accommodate your
preferences, however, due to demand we ask that you be prepared to live in a
community outside of your first choice. If you’re wondering when you select your
preferred residence building room type, roommate, and meal plan, that will come
later in the process. Stay tuned to your email beginning mid-June as next steps
begin to be sent out to all students. In step 4, we ask you to confirm your gender.
At the University of Waterloo we respect and appreciate diversity. When assigning
rooms we use the gender that you listed on your University application. If you
wish to update your gender information please return to your OUAC profile
and update your gender information. Click on the link labeled “undergraduate gender
change form” to complete this process. Finally, step 5. This is where you would
make your $500 deposit to guarantee your space in residence. While money orders
and certified checks are acceptable we highly recommend that you use a credit
card to ensure your deposit is received before the deadline. Please know that
online bank payments or wire transfers are NOT accepted for your deposit. Click
the “Pay Online” button, and fill out your payment information. Once you have
submitted your form you can always log back in and make any changes you’d like
until the June deadline. That’s it, you’re now 100% guaranteed to
have a space in residence this fall! We can’t wait to welcome you home.
