[ Music ]>>This is the best place to
succeed; even if you don’t know where you want to go this is
the home of creating goals and creating dreams
and this is a place to really charge you
to have ambition.>>We’re number one in
the state of California. We draw the best universities
in the state to come here to recruit our students. A student can get into an
Ivy League school from PCC; we’ve seen it happen
time and time again.>>Coming at you
from Yale University and the slightly colder New
Haven Connecticut my name is Ryan Lieu. I’m a PCC alumnus who
graduated in 2015.>>We have everything at PCC that a student could
possibly want. We have people who
can support them; we have wonderful
counselors; we have coaches; we have an honors program. For those students who want to be challenged we
have study abroad. Eighty plus student
organizations, wonderful student life, student
government; we just have it all.>>Pasadena City College focuses
on bringing industry, faculty and students together and
engaging students in, like, internships and apprenticeships.>>All the middle-skills jobs
that propel our economy reside in career technical education.>>The anesthesia tech program
finished its fifth year; it’s the only program
west of the Mississippi in a community college, the
only program in California, and we’ve had 100% employment
rate before they’ve even finished their last class.>>We have, probably on a
weekly basis, doctors calling and specifically
requesting our graduates. We are state of the
art technology just like the realistic
dental office environment.>>One of the things that
I really like to do is to give them a taste of
all the different processes and find the one that like,
man puts fire behind them; then you don’t even
have to push, you know. It’s great. It’s– it’s– dude I have
the best job in the world, seriously best job in the world.>>Working on the
SLAM program I got to meet all of these innovators. All of these people are
doing awesome, sick things, and that gets me
fired up, you know, and I’m like we can do that.>>CSI right?>>CSI yeah, for sure.>>Yeah.>>So they get an evidence
folder with like, everything about their case, where their
body was found; they have to do like, blood analysis;
they do DNA analysis and they do this big mock trial.>>Our writer in residence
program we bring a distinguished local writer to campus
for three days, enrich the culture
of the campus. [ Music ]>>We have all these great
musicians and artists here in Southern California;
there’s a lot of great opportunities
here for the students. [ Music ] [ Singing ]>>We have opera, we have
choir, we have orchestra, we have wind ensemble, marching
band [Background Music]. Jazz bands, jazz combos,
studio production. We have composition classes. You’d be hard pressed to find
that breadth of topics and areas of study in any college.>>The campus life here
is really energetic.>>You have the entire team,
like, behind your back. You have your– the own
sports medicine training room, which most colleges don’t have. You want to play a
sport come to PCC.>>We look at the
veteran as a whole. What are the steps that
need to be taken to get you from point A to point B?>>I feel at home here. I feel a part of the family
here, like people know me here. It’s a good feeling,
especially inside of such a large institution, like we have almost 30,000 kids
here, so for people to be able to be like hey Danny or to call
your name out or, you know, wish you good luck
it means something. It means something. It makes the world
of difference.
