I've been following you for a couple years now and your videos really help. Reply Ali Khan says: August 29, 2017 at 8:33 am So in america you need to already have a degree to study medicine? in the UK (where i'm starting medical school at Leicester) you can go straight from sixth form- age 16-18. There are courses which are postgraduate only such as in Warwick but they are the minority. that said- the medicine courses still require a good score in the UKCAT or BMAT exams and are 5-6 years instead of 4 years Reply Jessica Hernandez says: September 9, 2017 at 2:59 am I love you!!! You are so inspiring !! Girl power !❤️❤️❤️ Reply farah messan says: September 14, 2017 at 10:39 pm Did you do any science subjects in high school? Reply Erin Carroll says: October 3, 2017 at 8:38 am You are my idol. I started my freshman year of college away from home in the fall of 2015. After one semester I decided I hated being away from home, and was unsure of my future, so I packed up my stuff and quit. Now its about two years later and I'm just now ready to go back to college. Ive always secretly played around with the idea of being a doctor, and over these last couple months its been really sticking with me. Although I am not 100% sure I want to pursue a career in medicine, I definitely think it is a good possibility. Being out of school for a while has made me a bit hesitant to go back, and also makes me doubt my abilities even though I know that I am intelligent. I found your channel about a year ago and it has been breath of fresh air. Just watching your video about your journey from high school to med school made me open my eyes because you said you had struggled a bit in school… and look at you know. You're becoming a doctor. You're almost done with med school! You are such an inspiration. I remember in that video you mentioned that you didn't have an initial plan of what you wanted to do for a career. I was undecided about what I wanted to do for so long, and it makes me confident to hear that you started off confused and unclear about your future path too. I hope you accomplish everything you ever dreamed of. I hope I can too! Best of luck!!! Reply ANT says: October 9, 2017 at 7:29 pm Hey Jamie! I am currently in grade 10 living in Canada. My grades have been straight As but as the classes become more challenging I think I'm getting less confident. Also my high school only offers 3 AP classes which isn't great. I really want to go to the states for university but I'm scared because there is so much competition and pressure to do well and get into a good school. My goal is to study biological sciences, but to me right now it seems like I am too ambitious for it to be possible. Whenever I watch your videos, I feel more hopeful and that if I work really hard, I might be able to achieve my goals! Reply Lala Lou says: October 14, 2017 at 9:28 pm What extra curriculars did you do as a pre med? Xx Reply adriana agundis says: October 14, 2017 at 11:52 pm I’m not good at math or science so I’m so worried I won’t be able to go to medical school to become a future dermatologist. I researched and this is really my dream job, but I feel like I’m not good enough..idk what to do. I have a few months left to decide before I graduate. Any advice? Reply Mimi strohmeyer says: October 16, 2017 at 1:24 am what medical school are you going to now? Reply Jainil Patel says: October 16, 2017 at 3:04 am Wow! Compared to others youtubers she actually makes it seem like getting into med school isn't that stressful Reply Dainty ReSa says: October 21, 2017 at 2:06 am I really enjoyed this vid! I have pretty much similar background story. I moved here from Korea when I was 7th grade too! Except for the fact that I failed to stay away from my Korean friends. English has been always my challenge. I am preparing for MCAT now and I really don't know where to even begin from. Any tips? Thank you for great vids! Reply whelma panda paler says: October 23, 2017 at 6:45 am I really do want to do well in school…… Reply moonrice555 says: November 4, 2017 at 6:45 pm Good! We need more doctors out there ruining people's lives and selling them on expensive procedures they don't need. Reply Puppysa says: November 22, 2017 at 7:47 pm did you take organic chem?? if so, did it help you at all in your med school journey? the med school im looking at doesnt need organic chem as a requirement but other schools do need organic chem as a requirement, so do you suggest that i take it? Reply holly dyana says: November 29, 2017 at 5:55 am As an AP & Honors student in a very large and competitive school, I’ve been facing a lot of self doubt lately because I’m not doing as well as I want to be doing. Since I want to pursue medicine, I watch videos on channels similar to yours, and it seems like so many of them are giving pre-med (and high school) students unrealistic expectations for themselves. Thank you so much for doing the opposite and showing that you don’t NEED a perfect GPA to make it in medicine. You’re a true inspiration for me! xoxo <3 Reply Mariah Guerrero says: December 15, 2017 at 5:28 am Thank your for the inspiration Reply B M says: December 15, 2017 at 7:59 am Omg you are so real and I love you 😘 Reply DramaClips says: December 16, 2017 at 1:36 am THIS IS SO INSPIRING 😍😍😍😍 Reply Jazmin P says: January 9, 2018 at 3:26 pm What does she major in med school? Is it possible for an international student to get in a med school in America? I'm kind of interested in medical stuffs, and i'm not an American permanent resident. Thanks Reply Lalalakaka Rúgbi says: January 14, 2018 at 11:32 pm Please check you dm Reply Kubono Ponpon says: January 21, 2018 at 7:14 am I can relate in some level. Since I moved in America around my first year in high school and it was one of the biggest struggle I’ve ever been. Given that I also moved to japan with no known knowledge about their language and went for a whole year with nothing but just sitting in class and not have to learn a single thing relating to education just focusing on learning their language. Those changes really had a toll on me and my school career as a kid. Reply Freda says: January 29, 2018 at 4:17 am I am a junior in high I am in all regular classes which I hate but I will be challenging myself during my senior year Reply Handy Pranata says: February 26, 2018 at 7:27 pm I didnt takr chemistry, physics , and additiomal maths ( i only took biology) for my freshman and sophomore year and i am scared to take chem and phys for my junior and senior because i didnt habe the basics yet , but i really wanted to go to medical school and i have heard some said that you need to take all sciemces in order to go to medical schoolI really need an answer so it would mean anything if someone could answer my question if its possibke to go to medical school without chemistry or physicsThxx fir reading and please reply😉 Reply Giselle Rodriguez says: February 28, 2018 at 7:03 am I am very grateful for videos such as these. I want to pursue a career in medicine, most likely an obgyn( which I'm leaning more on) or trauma surgeon. And I have been stressing lately since it's my senior year and no one in my family can help me with the path I'm trying to pursue. I'm currently taking ap calculus and the only reason I took it was to have some understanding of what i will face in college, math is not my strongest subject whatsoever. I've been having a great deal of self doubt and tend to lower my own self esteem, but hearing your words of advice has put me at ease. Thank you! Subscribed to your awesome chanel💜💜 Reply FuturePediatricSurgeon says: March 4, 2018 at 4:10 pm This just proves that college is much more important than that of high school. I hear all the time “y’know, you have to do super well in high school to go to med school.” Which is true in a sense, because you do need to get into college… but it’s not really all that accurate! Overall college GPA, pre-med classes GPA, EC’s, and MCAT score are what actually matter… plus! There’s NO shame in getting help! Almost all colleges have free tutoring services! Reply Jess Ranieri says: March 5, 2018 at 4:20 pm can i still pass the mcat or gamsat. though i didn't do chemistry or physics in high school? i did up to year 10. can i learn them the year before i sit the tests and still get a passing grade to get into med school? Reply evelyn r. says: March 11, 2018 at 10:42 am honestly, this is so reassuring. im currently a junior with pretty good, but not PERFECT grades (some b+s in my hardest classes) and not too many great extracurriculars & basically this counselor that i went to said i wouldn't be able to get into college because i didn't have straight a's. thanks for stressing that even if you don't initially go to a prestigious college, things can work out <3 Reply xXWRedWolfWX x says: March 21, 2018 at 2:42 am 4.0 GPA is impossible… but 3.9 GPA is…. This made me realize I can do it, and not give up <3 Reply Ryan Hui says: May 6, 2018 at 7:12 pm I just got accepted to medical school and before my senior year of highschool my gpa was 1.9. I barely graduated with a 2.0. I didn't know I wanted to do medicine until my sophmore year of college but just know highschool doesn't define your success in life. So I’m going into 9th grade in September of 2018 and i already know i wanna do something in the medical field, I’m really interested in Peds though. (I’m also in band I play the bass drum in marching and the chimes, xylophone, bells, wind chimes.. in concert band) but do you have to be going to school to become a surgeon to be at the hospital your 3rd year or is it for physicians and surgeons?? Reply Paige V says: July 16, 2018 at 10:25 pm You're really inspirational to me. I'm just about to start my first year of college and I already know I wanna go pre-med but I'm scared I'm not gonna make it into med school. Last year (12th grade) I got C's in so many AP classes and I'm not the best student. I'm trying so hard to get better though, especially with managing anxiety and studying more. Seeing your grades like mine, I'm feeling more confident. Any college tips for before med school?
