MAXIS MONTHLY TOMORROW, 64-BIT REQUIRED FOR DISCOVER UNIVERSITY!

MAXIS MONTHLY TOMORROW, 64-BIT REQUIRED FOR DISCOVER UNIVERSITY!

November 12, 2019 26 By Stanley Isaacs

Hey folks! How’s it going? This is Iron Seagull here, back with another Sims Info/Thoughts video. So this is going to
be a pretty busy week, starting with tomorrow when we’re going to be getting
a Maxis Monthly live stream and most likely a new game update that will be
free for all players. So just to recap what I’ve already talked about, so far
SimGuruFrost teased that yes, there is going to be a Maxis Monthly on Tuesday
November 12 at 11 a.m. Pacific time and there’s going to be a couple of nucleus
sim items to show and update for builders and a new accessibility feature
that’s it you ask well we might have one more thing so it seems like there is
still one big surprise that none of us know even Sims Community (Jovan) on Twitter was
saying that he doesn’t even know what it is and he went to Sims Camp and typically
he’s really good at finding all the things so yeah I’m looking forward to
seeing what it is just given the wording it seems like it
is going to be something that is going to hopefully be something that’s
requested a lot by many people and having that request finally be fulfilled
but he already confirmed that it’s neither cars or a baby update also
thanks to the Sims camp embargo being lifted we now know what the
accessibility feature is going to be this is taken from The English Simmers’
how to enroll video with Discover University so I will link that in the
video description below if you want to see an action but basically it’s a UI
scaling option so if you’re having a hard time reading the text you can slide
it to be as big or as small as you want it you can also have it auto scale with
the operating system but there is a red bar to help indicate as to whether the
UI might end up like going off the screen and just not really playing
nicely with your computer so I think this is a pretty nice feature and I wish
more games had this there is one more thing that I want to talk about and it’s
that with Discovery University they’re finally dropping through
two-bit support this was supposed to happen back in June before Island living
but then they announced that it was going to be delayed and then never gave
any sort of timeframe as to when it was going to be released and it’s kind of
odd because it was actually Corinne Ric who discovered this on the origin system
requirements page for Discovery University now saying like highlighted
in red here from crinrict’s site it says that the operating system 64 bit
required Windows 7 Service Pack 1 Windows 8 Windows 8.1 or Windows 10 and
for Mac you need an operating system that supports metal which is Mac OS X
10.7 El Capitan in case you weren’t around when they initially made this
announcement this does not mean that you’re not able to play The Sims 4
anymore period if you’re stuck with a 32-bit system you just won’t be able to
get any of the newest updates or pact but you’ll still be able to play the
stuff that is currently released because you will be given this thing called The
Sims 4 legacy Edition the legacy Edition doesn’t cost anything and for those of
us who are playing on 64-bit or metal operating systems we don’t need to worry
about any of that so yeah it nothing’s really going to change for 64-bit users
and I think is the majority of us anyways because 32-bit at this point in
2019 is pretty outdated usually your computer would be able to support 64-bit
by now unless it is a really old computer that is like maybe seven or
eight years old before the sims 4 even came out so I do think this is not going
to affect a huge huge amount of players oh and I almost forgot to mention
console users you do not need to worry about this at all this is only for PC
and Mac so while I don’t think too many of us will be affected by this change I
still find it weird that they did not renounce this updates because if it
weren’t for crinrict we might still be in the dark about this and it is still a
significant change to how the game runs so even though we’ve
be known this was going to happen since before Island living why not remind us
that okay yeah this is when we’re actually going to do this now I find it
really weird like just how this whole marketing for Discovery University I
found to be just very strange and I hope for the next expansion pack they don’t
do this again so hopefully because they’re raising the
minimum system requirements the 64-bit which can use more of your computer’s
memory then maybe Maxis could hold back a little less on features and world
sizes due to performance I do think part of the issue with world
sizes is because every world in the sims 4 isn’t every save instead of how it was
in previous games were it’s only one world at a time plus University and
vacation worlds so I don’t think we’ll ever get a world the size of Windenburg
again, but at least bring up the number of lots a bit more than what we get now.
And also since we already did get a few different transportation options this
year including boats, brooms, and now bicycles with Discover University, it
also makes sense to keep the individual district sizes with the open spaces to
be a bit bigger too and that wraps up another Sims Info and Thoughts video so
feel free to me know your thoughts in the comments section below on what I
talked about in this video and be sure to subscribe if you want to keep up with
my latest content from The Sims, Sonic The Hedgehog and more so I will talk to
you all later and have a great day! Thanks for watching!
