My name’s Kieran Shipp. I’m a Wiradjuri man from Dubbo It’s a nice little country community I am a first year medical
student in the University of Newcastle and I’m a Ma & Morley Scholar I found that there’s only you know 250 odd Aboriginal doctors and I said that’s that’s what I
want to do I did the YAPUG program at Wollotuka Did a pre-med program and
here we are there’s so many different things that this program has to offer we got to meet people that have won a Nobel Peace Prize and the trip that we had out
to Wollombi by as well sitting at the table looking around at everyone was
there and the people that we’ve become really good friends with we’ve created
our own little Network and community and we’ll take those friendships with us for
the rest of our lives this trip to China and seeing Huangzhou and how beautiful it is walking up to the spot where Ken met Jack Ma and the dance at West Lake to see what AliBaba and Jack Ma Foundation are doing it just makes you want to do more I think the idea of this trip was to take people out of their
comfort zone and as Jack Ma found out when he was younger and he came to
Australia that the world isn’t what people always tell you it’s going to be
and to come over here and to see what China is actually like it’s yeah it’s
been amazing Ni Hao The Ma & Morley scholarship program has only increased my passion it’s about empathy it’s about ethics it’s about cultural respect
