LSU Graduate Sings Around the World
♪♪ In my short 10 years singing professionally, I’ve sung everywhere. I’ve sung in the UK in the Royal Opera House in London. I’ve sung in Paris. I have sung at The Met. I have sung in Germany at the Bavarian State Opera there. I have sung in Italy and in Rome. I’ve sung in Madrid in Spain. I have more debuts coming up this season to kind’ve finish out my, because I haven’t sung everywhere yet. I mean there are a lot of opera houses but I’m kind’ve making my way. I have plans to go to La Scala this year. La Scala in Milan, is the most prestigious, most famous, I’d say one of the most respected opera houses in the world, aside from the Met. ♪♪ LSU, they were very generous with me. They were very open with me. They were very giving, and I just feel like I really learned so much. I went straight out of LSU into the young artist program at The Met, which is unheard of, and so I kind’ve felt like, wow, I couldn’t have gone to a better school. My talent but also my training that I got here at LSU. It’s one thing to have a gift, it’s another thing to prepare it well and do really well in an audition. LSU school of music has really wonderful faculty and really wonderful performance opportunities for students. It’s not just book work. It’s not just voice lessons. Its practical application. You prepare recitals. You prepare roles. You prepare scenes from opera and the coaches here are really, really, really wonderful. My long-term goal is to just sing my whole life in a healthy way and be able to retire with grace.
