Life as an international student | Oglethorpe University International Study Center

In Welcome Week every day there are
events: they have movie nights, they have student mixers and everything, and
then international students have their own event where all the internationals
come together and get to know each other. We have student ambassadors who pair up
with them and who work with them in terms of helping them get acquainted
with the city of Atlanta. I’m not at home but to have a group of
supporting sisters and friends is always a nice feeling, and they always try to
get you involved around campus which is really good, and it’s kind of giving me
the full experience of American college. It’s a small school and
all my friends are close. Living on campus has been great because I can walk
to my class, like my farthest class is five minutes walk. There’s a library
where you can get tutoring or just sit there and have Starbucks coffee.
At Oglethorpe you get your own little tiny community while you are
still in a big city, you know, right down the road is Downtown and shopping center
which is really nice. Whether it’s my friends from Europe
or Americans or my host family, totally had a really really big impact on me
and kind of helped shape me into a person that I am today,
and taught me to be independent.
