Learning about Area. The space occupied by a shape is called its area. Let us find area of this rectangle. To find its area, we need to find how many unit squares can fit in this rectangle. A unit square is a square where each side is equal to 1 unit. Looks like nobody is at home. Go play somewhere else. Let us find the area of a rectangle. In this rectangle, we can fit 4 rows of 2 squares each. Thus, its Area is equal to 4 into 2. Is equal to 8 unit squares. Here, 4 is length, 2 is the breadth. Thus, area is equal to 4 into 2. What would a 9m*12m rectangle be in cm? Would it be 900cm*1200cm? 9×12 is 108m. 900×1200 is 1080000cm. 108 meters is equal to 10800 centimeters. 1080000 centimeters is equal to 10800 meters. They are different amounts. 108m<10800m. 1080000cm>10800cm. So which measurement is correct?
