India to MIT: Transforming My Life through Online Education at edX

Hi. I’m Amol Bhave and this is my story. I’m 17 years old and live in the Indian city of Jabalpur. I ride my bicycle seven kilometres to school daily. I’ve always been interested in electronics and physics. This is my computer. I’m using it for the 6.002x course and for the other edX courses too. EdX is changing the world, one student at a time. (Amol is watching himself on a computer.) That was me four years ago. The edX courses helped me get into MIT to pursue my dream of becoming a computer scientist. Now, four years later, I’m graduating with a degree in computer science. In October, I will begin work at Facebook and I’m so excited to get started. It all began with my first course on edX. EdX changed my life. (Transition to edX headquarters.) Hi. I’m Anant Agarwal, CEO of edX. Amol is just one of the millions of learners using edX to transform their lives. I’m incredibly proud and humbled by all the learners benefiting from world-class education on edX. With your help, we can continue our mission to provide high-quality education to everyone, everywhere. Please consider giving a tax-deductible donation to edX today. Together, we can change lives and change the world. (Music swells)
