How much is UC going to cost?

How much is UC going to cost?

The average cost for a student living on
campus is about $35,000. That’s a lot of money, but that number includes room & board, food, books & supplies, transportation and health insurance for
a whole year – and most students don’t pay the full amount and that’s due to the
financial aid that they’re eligible for. UC and the state of California have one
of the strongest and most generous financial aid programs in the country.
More than half of UC undergraduates from California pay no tuition to attend and
75% of California students attending receive grants and scholarships that
help reduce their costs – and that’s money that does not have to be paid back. You
definitely should apply for financial aid no matter what your family’s income
or financial circumstances are. Many families are actually surprised that they qualify
for assistance. For middle income families from California there is the
middle class scholarship program. This program can cover up to 40% of UC
tuition and if your family’s income is under $80,000/year and you qualify for
financial aid, you won’t pay any UC system-wide tuition or fees. So how do
you apply? File your FAFSA or Free Application for Federal Student Aid by
March 2nd or if you’re an undocumented Californian, complete a California Dream
Act application by March 2nd. We’ve got links to these applications in the video
description.
