REPORTER THANK YOU ALSO MUCH
FOR JOINING US. WE ARE EXCITED TO HEAR YOUR
PERSPECTIVE ON SOME OF THE
LARGEST ISSUES AFFECTING OUR
COUNTRY AND THIS PRESIDENTIAL
ELECTION. WE WILL GET RIGHT TO IT. I WANT TO ASK YOU AS YOUNGER
VOTERS, WHAT ISSUES ARE MOST
IMPORTANT TO YOU? WE’LL START WITH YOU. BEN DOMAINGUE: TWO ISSUES THAT
ARE EXTREMELY IMPORTANT TO ME
ARE MEDICARE FOR ALL AND
UNIVERSAL COLLEG
MEDICARE FOR ALL IS A POLICY
THAT WILL COST ABOUT $1.2 TRILLION AND FREE COLLEGE IS
ABOUT $80 BILLION, AND I HEAR
ALL THE TIME THAT WE CAN’T PAY
FOR IT WHEN WE CAN PAY FOR ALL
THESE NEEDLESS WARS IN IRAQ AND
AFGHANISTAN, WHICH BY 2050 , THEY WILL COST ABOUT $7
TRILLION. REVERSING THE BUSH AND TRUMP T
CUTS WILL RAISE $656 BILLION. EVEN THOUGH THAT’S A LITTLE
UNDER, CHANGING THE TAX POLICY
SLIGHTLY WOULD PAY FOR THOSE AND
I THINK THOSE ARE VERY IMPORTANT
ISSUES, ESPECIALLY WHEN WE HAVE
ABOUT 45,000 PEOPLE EVERY YEAR DIE BECAUSE OF LACK OF BASIC
HEALTH CARE. .
I THINK IT IS IMMORAL TO
CONTINUE ON THE PATH WE ARE
GOING. REPORTER: AND TO YOU, WHAT DO
YOU THINK IS IMPORTANT?>>TO ME, ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES
ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT, SPEC
— ESPECIALLY LOCAL AGRICULTURE. THIS IS SOMETHING I HAVE BEEN
PASSIONATE ABOUT, ESPECIALLY IN
THE LAST YEAR. AS A STUDENT, WE HAVE BEEN FEET
ON THE GROUND, GOING AND
INTERVIEWING A LOT OF LOCAL
FARMERS TO TALK ABOUT THE ISSUES
SURROUNDING LOCAL AGRICULTURE
POLICY THAT’S IMPORTANT TO THEM. LOCAL AGRICULTURE IS A BIG ISSUE
IN NEW HAMPSHIRE THAT A LOT OF
PEOPLE CARE ABOUT AND PEOPLE WHO
ARE YOUNG AND OLD, DEMOCRAT,
REPUBLICAN, EVERYBODY CARES
ABOUT IT, IT’S REALLY IMPORTANT ISSU
WHEN YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT
ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES, IT SEEMS
THAT RIGHT NOW IT IS EITHER THIS
SOARING RHETORIC OF WE WILL
SOLVE EVERYTHING RIGHT NOW, OR WE WILL NOT TALK ABOUT IT AND
PUT IT ON THE BACK BURNER. WE NEED TO MEET IN THE MIDDLE. WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT LOCAL
AGRICULTURE TO GET CARBON
EMISSIONS DOWN. IF WE ARE SHIPPING ALL OF OUR
FOOD FROM CALIFORNIA, THAT WILL
RAISE CARBON EMISSIONS. NO ONE SEEMS TO REALLY BE
TALKING ABOUT THAT RIGHT NOW. REPORTER: SO YOU WANT TO HEAR
FROM A CANDIDATE WHAT THEY WANT
TO DO ABOUT THAT. WHAT ABOUT YOU?>>FOREIGN POLICY IS A BIG THING
FOR ME. AMERICA HAS KIND OF ACTED AS THE
WORLD’S POLICE FOR YEARS AND
YEARS. YOU ALSO HAVE THE FACT THAT, IT
IS IMPORTANT ON THE WORLD STAGE
TO BE IN A GOOD DECISION. YOU HAVE A LOT OF ALLIANCES YOU
NEED TO HOLD ON TO. AND ALSO IMPORTANT FOR ME IS THE
ACCOUNTABILITY ON BOTH SIDES. RIGHT NOW, YOU HAVE CANDIDATE
SAYING, I’M NEVER GOING TO GIVE
UP ON ANYTHING, I WILL NEVER
BUDGE ON ANYTHING. THAT LEADS TO NO ONE GETTING
ANYTHING DONE WHERE IT MATTERS
IN CONGRESS NO BILLS GET PASSED
AND WE’RE STUCK IN GRIDLOCK IN
WASHINGTON. REPORTER: INTERESTING. WE DON’T HAVE MUCH TIME BUT I
WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU IN A WORD,
OR JUST A FEW WORDS, WHAT ARE
YOU LOOKING FOR AND A CANDIDATE
— IN A CANDIDATE?>>HONESTY, INTEGRITY.>>FEET ON THE GROUND, TALKING
TO VOTERS.>>ACCOUNTABILITY AND
TRANSPARENCY. REPORTER: GREAT, THANK YOU. VERY WELL SAID. I’M REALLY LOOKING FORWARD TO
FOLLOWING ALL OF YOU THROUGH
THIS PROCESS LEA
