Graduate Interviews 2013 | College of Medicine & Veterinary Medicine
Hi, my name is Emily. I’ve just completed my doctorate from the Roslin Institute in Bioformatics. My word is tenacity. Everybody says you have to work really hard to do a PhD and it’s true – you have to work really hard. But I think you need a lot of stamina and endurance as well and it’s the last part, is the hardest part, and if you can get through that then you can get through anything and it’s brilliant. When you finish it, it feels fantastic. I’m Mary and I studied an MSc in Applied Animal Behaviour and Animal Welfare. I’m from Suffolk, and my word is Happy, because being at the university was wonderful, being around people who felt the same as you, had the same opinions but were able to debate things is just fantastic. OK my name is Olivia and I’m from Perth and I studied the MSc in Applied Animal Behaviour and Welfare. And my word is Friendly because everyone on the course was super nice and I met loads of great people. It was really good. Hi my name is Dominique LeFevre and I just graduated in a Master of Equine Science. And the word we have chosen, and I say ‘we’ because I’m here with my friends and colleagues, is Collaboration. Collaboration! To us it means – first of all this programme was done online as a distance learning programme. A Masters degree, lots of work but it had to be done in collaboration with all these people that we met from all around the world. We gathered and collaborated on projects and we supported each other and it just gave extraordinary results. We’re all very happy with what we’ve accomplished and what happened today is just extraordinary.
