Graduate applications to Oxford: What to expect once you apply
The journey you make towards graduate study at Oxford has several key stages. Here’s what to expect. Once you’ve submitted your completed application, reference letters and other supporting material, they will be assessed by your chosen department for admission. You will receive an offer from your department about two months after the deadline, but sometimes quicker. Then you will receive an offer from a college. Everyone with a department offer is guaranteed an offer from a college. During this period, we will let you know if you’ve been successful in getting University funding. Check whether your offer is conditional or unconditional, and make sure you fulfil the conditions by the deadline set. If you need a visa, we offer help and support throughout the student visa process for all international students. Having fulfilled your conditions, and got funding in place, you can sign your student contract, and be ready to start. There is plenty of accommodation offered by colleges and the University. Be sure to apply as early as possible after you receive your college offer. Arriving by plane? There are 24/7 coach services that run directly from the London airports to Oxford. Oxford’s departments and colleges are ready to welcome and support you during your first days and weeks in Oxford, and throughout your time here. There are induction programmes in place for new graduate students, and an orientation programme specifically for international arrivals. As a student at Oxford, you will be part of a prestigious and highly international community of fellow students and academics, in a stimulating, supportive and vibrant environment that encourages academic and personal development. Welcome.
