From Home School to College | De Anza College

[magical chimes] [guitar playing] There’s a lot of things I’ve liked about
De Anza. It’s a very, very open, very positive community. And Personally, like, my experience has been great. Everyone’s been really supportive. It’s really scary coming in here, being the first quarter and the first college class I’ve ever
taken … the first class I’ve taken in a very long time. Growing up home-schooled, I had a very tight-knit, very small community of
friends … like six or seven friends I’d see. So the social aspects in terms of,
like, what you’ve grown up with during your high school years is very
different from what you see on your usual like, high school or college
scenario in terms of how many people are around you and what’s influencing you. I was very, very nervous, but I just told myself like, this is what I wanted to do
and this is how you start. The work is hard, but at the same time I find myself
enjoying it a lot more than, like, what I did. Once you get the drive to actually
start doing the work, that’s when, that’s when it becomes a lot easier. And … it was really interesting, because it’s the first time I’ve been in a class — happy looking around, looking at the professor … having a ton of energy basically because I’m still running off of, like oh my God I’m in college! This is awesome!
