this is UCSC the University of California and Santa Cruz or as us locals know it the city on the hill I’m taking this ride today to show you the awesome power of this thousand watt motor it’s really a city on the hill it rises at the base of the campus the entrance which I’m on right now is 1,200 feet from sea level and i started at sea level which is about a four mile ride to get to the base campus and as i’m going into the main campus it goes up to another tops out at the summit at 2,600 feet so it’s a pretty steep climb from sea level right on up to the top of the summit of the campus and this will show you everything from eight percent grades to seventeen percent grades going just continually up until you hit the summit of the campus is about 17,000 students on campus throughout 10 different small colleges and so you get a lot of traffic on the main roads but it is it is a campus that is it’s really quite beautiful it’s up in the redwoods and has paths leading all through it so once you get off the main road you can opt to take a series of pad but just visually to show you what this looks like how the thousand watt motor performs up here it’s a pretty strenuous ride under any conditions but the thousand watt motor can just simply cruise right through it I haven’t even reached the summit yet and as you’ll see it just continues to go up and up and up what a lot of the students do those that cycle will take transit buses up to the top with their bikes and then ride down it’s a lot easier than actually riding up to the top of the campus but as you can see here the paths just sort of wind all the way through the campus in a variety of ways meandering from one college to the other the campus is on over two thousand acres of prime real estate overlooking the Pacific Ocean so on any given day been under the worst weather conditions it’s it’s a really just absolutely beautiful place to ride enjoy yourself you can spend hours up here there’s all sorts of wildlife up here while turkeys dear you name it I’ve seen them all up here but you can see for yourself visually what the the power of the bike can do as well as the awesome beauty of this hill overlooking Santa Cruz now we finally summited and i’m going to start winding my way through the college itself and make my way down towards the Pacific Pacific Ocean and off campus I’m winding through the art department at the moment trying not to get stuck in in a bathroom door now we’re finally seeing the Pacific Ocean off in the distance and making our way off campus down another 1,200 feet down to sea level you
