Starting from the Cal State apply web page, scroll down to select your student type. For the purpose of this tutorial, I will
be applying as a first-time freshmen. If you are a transfer student,
please select Transfer, and so on. Select the term that you are applying for, then click Apply. If you don’t have an account, here’s how you will create one. Proceed to fill out your information. Once finished, select Create my account. (Silence) Congratulations! Your account is now
created. Let’s continue by creating your profile. Since I am seeking a bachelor’s degree,
select Undergraduate. Then select the options that pertain to you. For the purpose of this video, again, I will be entering college as a first-time freshman. For me this means I will be a graduating high school senior and I will be selecting Graduating High School Senior or equivalent. Please select your option accordingly. You are a first-time freshman applicant if you are currently enrolled in a high school and will be earning your diploma in the current academic year. You have already graduated high school or earned an equivalent certificate and have not attempted college units after the diploma or
certificate date. Make sure that you check with your counselor to confirm that you are meeting the A-G courses, or to determine that you have completed any college work. This college work includes Advanced Placement or International Baccalaureate exams, or college courses complete at the
Community College. Now that I’ve completed my profile, I
will click Save. Let’s begin the application. I will start by selecting my campus and
the major I wish to apply. Please note that the campus option will determine what major programs are provided. Then proceeded to select one of the
undergraduate programs provided below. Then click I am Done and review your
selections. Be sure to review your selections. Next,
we will click Continue To My Application. Before starting I will show you how to
change anything in your profile. Simply click the drop-down menu where your name appears next to the bell icon on the top right and select Extended Profile. Here you can make any changes. Now select My Application and that will
take you to the application page where you can begin filling in the information. Please note you can make changes to your programs until you submit your
application. The application is actually broken down into four sections which we
call quadrants. The four quadrants are Personal Information, Academic History,
Supporting Information, and Program Materials. For this section you should
have your transcript in view to enter your academic information in full. Be sure as you complete each area the
green checkmark appears on the bar to the left. If a checkmark does not show, that means there is missing information for that section. When it’s time for you to enter your
test scores, please be sure to insert all test scores. Do not be selective. The campuses will determine what scores they will use for your application consideration. A green checkmark will appear as you complete each section of each quadrant. For the purpose of this video I will speed through the remaining quadrants. (Silence until 4:14) Now that all the quadrants have been
completed you can select Submit All and pay the application fees. You will need to have your debit or credit card handy. Once completed, you can click on the
check status tab to ensure that your application was received. Please allow up
to ten business days for processing. You’ll be hearing from the campuses that
you apply to and getting instructions on how you can access your prospective
student account. In this account you’ll be able to check your application status and your to-do list. Your to-do list will have items that you need to submit with specific deadlines. Please note, failure to submit supporting documents at any point of the application process may result in the withdrawal of your
application for that institution of choice. Be sure to submit all supporting
documents on time. Thank you for applying and good luck to you in this application season!
