CSUN David Nazarian College of Business and Economics: COBAE
Dianne Harrison: I continually run into, wherever I am in the community, CSUN alum, and especially those from business, and they are proud of their degree being from CSUN, and, and now they are so proud that David Nazarian has made this remarkable, incredible contribution to their College of Business and Economics as well. ♪♪ ((Music)) ♪♪ Barry Munitz: To get a Cal State campus, particularly one like Northridge, to bring it front and center to a strong business community, puts them in the position of demonstrating that they have an important seat at the table along with the SCs, and the UCLAs, the Cal Techs, and the Occidentals, and now Northridge is going to have to take that lead on the business side. David Nazarian: So a few goals that’s very important for me to see in the College of Business here, one of them is to try to have the entrepreneurial activities. I believe that the backbone of our community and our country is based on start-ups and small businesses and I want to make sure that our students have all the tools to be successful in this area. Diversity is another area that I want to make sure that women and minorities have all the right tool skills to be leaders in the areas of the business that they are very interested. Global awareness is another area that I want to make sure that our kids get a chance to travel abroad with CSUN having partnerships with other universities that making sure we can have collaboration with them and hopefully get some works and internships to other countries that be out there. And the last and something that is very, very important — student professional work. We want to make sure that kids get all the right mentorship, internship. And when they go out of school to be very ready to bring the best out of them and to get the best possible jobs out there. Kenneth Lord: We’re proud of the achievements of our faculty and our students. We have the CSU leading CPA pass rate, we have students who perform very successfully on national and regional competitions. We’re accredited by AACSB International, which places us among the top five percent of business degree granting institutions internationally. We’re recognized by Princeton Review as among the top business schools. David Nazarian: The importance of education, it is something that the more and more you see it, as our kids competing in a world economy, they need to be prepared for it. There are other countries that put so much resources, for us, we need to do the same thing, otherwise we stay behind, and you know, it’s something that I very much believe that education is something that gives the kids the tool to really be able to have balance, be able to find their passions, and be able to compete in this world class economy.
