Colleges Waste Millions on BLING?

a lot of campuses around the united
states are building these very elaborate new building having dorms and all these
amenities in the efforts to attract uh… future students and to get them to
have to pay it their tuition in its versus particularly out of state
students do they have to pay higher tuitions at first i thought to give you
as an example of some of the things that are going on uh… student unions
with movie theaters and wine buyers workout facilities of climbing walls in
lazy rivers towards a single rooms in private bath so these are some pretty you know legs urea things to have on a
college campus which sounds up also um… bada you know there’s no such thing as a
freelance this money has to come from somewhere
and what’s happening is the colleges are going into colleges and universities are
going into debt overall that levels throughout the last
decade have actually doubled when you compare that to the rate of inflation and so whos going about while the current students are yeah and
a lot of times its construction is going on right now in these amenities aren’t
there yet but the croatians are footing the bill for what future students down the road
will be able to take advantage of the convenience elves will not and i know
the what one reason for this particularly struck me as interesting as
because at this is happening on my old university colorado state university and
it was happening as i was graduating we got a brand new jam brand new parking structures brand new
dorms and you know weezer no lazy river but we have but democrats
along in um… and it’s great to campus looks great and it works all of the extra at fine systems are
gonna have to pay when students are already in that and now the universities are are going
into that to and this is just a feeling that we see over and over again with
individuals with the treasury department with the government with um… with universities now is they want to
pay for things that they can actually paper they want
to have things that they can’t pay for itself here’s what i see your take on it is
this worth it in the long run to have scenes with the bill for this will it was definitely happening when i
was yukon so we have the center of the time is this huge
squabbling blurred by all these buildings as also so uh… first semester you know it’s just
people playing frisbee in people reading and studying everything is great uh… after first lesser was shut down
for construction of the union and it was not opened up again until
after i’d left yukon side one semester with it and it’s totally redid the
student union the gold all these new amazing buildings
uh… we then she did get a new g_m_ unfortunate students just for the
football players difficult and wasn’t that good then assessing what kind of a rip-off we
never climbing wall or anything although a uti they did have a climbing on the
lazy river though i have to say they’ve had it or not it
like i unlike having nice things and it just
because i’m not personally going to to get to enjoy them doesn’t mean that i shouldn’t be willing
to invest in it uh… that there might not have been
similar levels of construction in decades before but those students paid for various things
that i enjoyed the jim that i had when i was there was paid for by earlier students and the same way that i expect people to
pay their taxes and this is a bit like a college version of that it’s both the at
houston’s but also understand that weather is is one also looking school is
to get alumni to what to do it together just people doing like charity work as
one of the only because it’s impressive school writer could actually bring in
money to people want things but they don’t want to pay for them and so what
happens is this continues to go unpaid because the card is our the universe is are
paying for their and literally hundreds of millions if not billions of
dollars worth of dot and then students are taking out student
loans because they can’t afford the higher tuition criterion for stupid
because if it’s been working for us to pay but then a lot of sense i havent default
on their loans so alternately this is the problem is the and households with credit card is a
problem that we see with the government spending too much money since the same
thing over and over where we keep buying these things that that ultimately just don’t get paid for
because somebody has to foot the bill at the end
of the day economy is in great right now we have a nobody conflict the bell
distal compared to ski next maybe not
