AND CLOSER TO HOME, STUDENTS AT THE VICTIMS. AND CLOSER TO HOME, STUDENTS AT MIDDLEBURY COLLEGE CAME TOGETHER AS WELL. RACHEL: DOZENS OF STUDENTS, FACULTY, STAFF CAME TOGETHER TONIGHT TO HOLD A VIGIL FOR THE PEOPLE OF FRANCE. THE EVENT BEGAN WITH A 30 MINUTES OF MEDITATION INSIDE THE CHAPEL BEFORE THE GROUP HEADED OUTSIDE. ORGANIZERS SAID THEY WANTED TO TAKE TIME TO REMEMBER VICTIMS OF LAST WEEK’S TERROR ATTACK IN FRANCE. THEY WERE ALSO TAKING AN OPPORTUNITY WERE TO REFLECT ON VIOLENCE IN THE MIDDLE EAST. ONE PERSON SAYS PEOPLE ACROSS THE CAMPUS FEEL IT. WHEN PEOPLE IN OTHER PARTS OF ENROLLED ARE IN PAINT, WE FEEL IT AND WE WANT TO RECOGNIZE OUR TIES WITH PEOPLE AROUND THE WORLD. AND TO JOIN HIM AND TRIED TO MAKE THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE. RACHEL: HE SAYS IT’S IMPORTANT TO STAND UNITED ON CAMPUS TO SHOW SOLIDARITY WITH FRANCE. I ALSO SAT DOWN WITH A FRENCH STUDENT AND SHE SAID ALTHOUGH SHE’S NOT FROM PARIS, IT’S BEEN DIFFICULT TO WATCH THE EVENTS UNFOLD BACK HOME. ESPECIALLY IN JANUARY WITH THE CHARLIE HEBDO TERRORIST ATTACKS. WE THINK IT HAPPENS ONCE AND IT WILL NOT HAPPEN AGAIN, ESPECIALLY IN THE SAME YEAR. YOU THINK WE GOT OUR SHARE, IT’S OVER.
