College and Career Readiness Graduation Information (For Graduates)

Congratulations on your upcoming graduation from Central Piedmont Community College. This video will highlight key information regarding Central Piedmont Community College’s annual commencement ceremony. So what exactly do you do before graduation? Students who have to pre-ordered their cap and gown will pick up and pay for them during the annual graduation fair, held at the bookstore on Central Campus. The bookstore is located on the first floor of the Hall building, 1112 Charlottetown Avenue, Charlotte, North Carolina. Payment will be required at the time of pickup. Students may also purchase graduation announcements that come in packages of five. By purchasing your cap and gown at the CPCC bookstore, this provides confirmation that you are participating in the graduation ceremony. If you make no graduation related purchases in the bookstore, there will be no name card available for you at the graduation ceremony. Students are not allowed to wear anything from other schools. Decorating your cap is not permitted and will be confiscated at the ceremony. Only approved regalia may be worn during the ceremony. The day of your Graduation. Graduation is located at Bojangles’ Coliseum at 2700 at 2700 Independence Boulevard, Charlotte North Carolina Coliseum doors open at 2 p.m. and the ceremony begins at 3 p.m. please arrive approximately one hour before the ceremony begins, and allow enough travel time due to area traffic. Arrive dressed in your cap and gown, and wear appropriate shoes for comfort. Leave purses, Leave purses, bags, cell phones, and other valuable items locked in the trunk your car, as there are no dressing rooms or locker rooms available. Once you enter the coliseum you will be checked in to receive your marching card. This card is used to announce your first and last name. There is no practice or alphabetical lineup. CPCC faculty and staff will assist you with lining up and the last minute cap and gown issues. Lineup is on a first come first serve basis. As you cross the stage you will be handed a commemorative piece of artwork along with a handshake. Please contact Mark Helms at [email protected] for an alternative arrangement. Grad Images will be recording and photographing the moment you walk across the stage. Approximately two weeks after the ceremony, you will receive a passport-sized full color proofs and ordering details in the mail. You can register your e-mail in advance at the Grad Images website. Guests are welcomed. They do not need tickets to gain admissions. All seating is on a first come, first served basis. The ceremony will be approximately two hours and the graduates are to remain seated on the floor for the duration of the ceremony. Any guest attending in need of auxiliary aid due to hearing, visual, or physical disabilities, can contact Serena Johnson at [email protected] before May 11th. Wheelchair accessible seats are limited in number and are limited to one additional guest sitting with them sitting with them in the area. There are a few ceremony restrictions. All guests must pass through security upon entering the arena. Baby strollers, baby baby carriers, balloons, wrapped gifts, and noise makers are not allowed inside the venue. All bags will be checked and each person scanned with a handheld metal detector. All college policies apply during this college sanctioned event. Graduation etiquette. Everyone wants to enjoy the ceremony, so please be mindful of others. do not bring noise makers as they are not permitted. Student code of conduct prohibits the use of alcoholic beverages or being in a state of intoxication at any college sponsored functions.
