TOP STORY, A MANHUNT FOR A KILLER, A FORMER ADMINISTRATOR AT CAL STATE FULLERTON HAS BEEN STABBED TO DEATH ON A CAMPUS PARKING LOT. CRYSTAL: THEY SAY THE VICTIM WAS TARGETED, STACEY BUTLER IS LIVE WITH THE LATEST. REPORTER: THE STABBING HAPPENED HERE IN THIS PARKING LOT, TONIGHT, AS WE LEARN MORE ABOUT THE VICTIM, STUDENTS WHO ARE ARRIVING HERE, ARE UNEASY. TONIGHT AS POLICE STATE UNIVERSITY FULLERTON CAMPUS LOOKING FOR A KILLER, STUDENTS ARE IT WORRIES ME, I WAKE HERE ALL OF THE TIME, I WAKE OFF-CAMPUS, I DON’T WANT THIS TO HAPPEN WHEN I’M WALKING HOME. REPORTER: THIS MORNING IN HIS OWN CAR, 57-YEAR-OLD STEVEN CHAN, A CONSULTANT IN THE INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS OFFICE WAS STABBED TO DEATH, HE DIED IN THE PARKING LOT. AT HIS HOME HIS FAMILY DID NOT TOP TALK, HIS NEIGHBOR DESCRIBE HE AND HIS WIFE AS RESPECTFUL AND QUIET. THEY COME OUT, TAKE OUT TRASH, WATER THE GRASS. CRYSTAL: WHAT DID YOU THINK ABOUT THIS. I’M SHOCKED. POLICE DOGS SEARCHED NEAR THE 57 FREEWAY AROUND NOON BUT NO TRACE OF THE SUSPECT, DESCRIBED AS A 20 SOMETHING MAN WITH DARK HAIR, AND DARK CLOTHING. HE LEFT HIS BACKPACK UNDER THE VICTIM’S CAR, POLICE BELIEVE THAT FORMER CAL STATE FULLERTON ADMINISTRATOR MAY HAVE BEEN TARGETED. IN THE BAC BACKPACK THERE WAS A INCENDIARY DEVICE, AND ALSO ITEMS THAT ONE WOULD POTENTIALLY USE TO KIDNAP SOMEONE. REPORTER: A CAMPUS SPOKESPERSON SAID THEIR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS ARE WITH THE FAMILY. THE SCHOOL WAS NEVER PUT ON LOCKDOWN.
