THEY CONCLUDED THAT THIS IS BEST FOR THEIR STUDENTS.>>♪♪ KELLY: STARTING NEXT YEAR, GRADUATING SENIORS WON’T FIND CLASS RANK ON THEIR TRANSCRIPT. THE DISTRICT SAYS IT ELIMINATES UNDUE COMPETITION AMONG CLASSMATES INDICATES A MORE ACCURATE PICTURE OF ACCOMPLISHMENT. THE SUPERINTENDENT SAYS ONE PARENT CAME FORWARD WISHING THEY HAD MADE A CHANGE SOONER.>>I HAD A 4.4 GPA APPLIED TO A MAJOR UNIVERSITY WITH A MAJOR SCHOLARSHIP, BUT BECAUSE HE WAS NOT IN THE TOP 10%, HE DIDN’T RECEIVE THE SCHOLARSHIP. SHE WAS TOLD THAT HAD WE NOT RANKED THEY WOULD HAVE LOOKED AT OTHER CRITERIA. KELLY: SHE SAYS THE DECISION HAS SPARKED CONCERN AMONG A HANDFUL OF PARENTS, BUT JUST AS MANY ARE PRAISING THE DECISION.
