I actually moved from Sydney to come to
Monash University so having wanted to be a nurse since I was 8, it was a big deal that I went to the right University. I did a lot of
research as to which University offered what I wanted in a degree and I decided
that the Peninsula campus had the best of everything so I didn’t want to
be a small fish in a big sea I sort of wanted to know all my peers and my
teachers and my lecturers. My lecturers were always really approachable I
unfortunately was sick during some of my degree so when I was sick I was able to
approach them and you know get the support that I required and they really
took that time to help me one-on-one with whatever it was that I needed them
to help me with. So I was part of the Monash at Peninsula program which meant
that I did primarily all of my placements at Peninsula Health which was
really fantastic it meant that I was able to sort of get familiar with the
one facility and become familiar with how the organisation was run it’s made
it a lot easier in terms of trying to transition from student to registered
nurse. I got a position as an oncology hematology nurse which is looking after
patients with cancer and blood disorders I really love it it is challenging it
days but every day is different most of the time I go home with a big
smile on my face knowing that I’ve been able to make a difference in people’s
lives when it really matters most
