Arunima Kumar – International Student – India

My name is Arunima Kumar. I’m from
India but I was raised in Africa so specifically in Kenya and Ethiopia. I thought transitioning here would be difficult but I found it pretty smooth. To be honest it’s great being a new student here because everything is just there.
There are so many people to help you out. Like the first place I went to was Ask
Adelaide when I reach Uni Adelaide for the first time. They were so helpful they
took me around when I got lost and I found that pretty great
to be honest. I’ve visited the Math Learning Centre a lot of times because
my first year I had a couple of maths subjects and they helped me out pretty
well and I was very happy with the tips I got there. The Math Learning Centre was one
and then the Professions Hub naturally because I’m part of the Profession team. I love that the city is so friendly like everywhere I go and when I walk on the
street random people who I don’t even know, they smile at me and I love that. Whereas when I went to Sydney to visit people have no time there. Join as many
clubs as you can because that’s the best way to make friends and get into as many
extracurricular activities you can. Make friends in your lectures, don’t just sit
there by yourself. Make it a point to talk to someone make it a point to talk
to your lecturers because they can introduce you to a lot of people from
your workforce and you know people who can help you out in the future. The University I believe was one of my best choices to be honest I don’t regret
coming here, I love it here. Even if I get a job I would prefer
to stay here in Adelaide because I don’t want to move out of Adelaide I’m
attached to this place now. It feels like Home
