[NOISE].>>We’re one of the top 25 in this
region.>>Over 3,000 Algonquin College
employees are celebrating good times after the
college was named one of the National Capital’s
Region Top 25 Employers for 2014. Employees gathered for a mysterious
announcement that was kicked off by none other than former CTV Ottawa anchor Max Keeping, who sits on the Algonquin College Foundation’s
Board of Directors. Max and Algonquin College president Dr. Kent MacDonald congratulated the crowd
of excited employees for their contributions to what they call a
great place to work.>>And that kind of compliment comes in
so many parts of this city as the alumni of the city take the
leadership of the community. And that’s a badge of honor that you
should wear and wear so proudly.>>After that it was time to celebrate. What makes Algonquin such a great place to
work? MacDonald says he has he has a number of
ideas. First and foremost, its the employees.
[NOISE].>>Today announcement is, is a
wonderful day because its a third party recognizing what
many of us say on a daily basis, that Algonquin college is an extraordinary
place to work with wonderful people, committed faculty and
staff. So today we had another group come in and
say, you know what, well you have been telling
us, you’re right. It is a great spot to work and, and we’re recognizing you as one of the National
Capital’s leading employers. And I just think that that’s great news
for everyone.>>Each year, Canada’s top 100
employers select the National Capital Region’s Top 25 Employers
using the same eight criteria, benefits, physical work
space, vacation, performance management, employee communications, training,
community involvement and work atmosphere. All of the National Capital Region Top 25 Employers can acclaim the title for one
year. Applications for next year’s competitions
open this spring.>>Congrats, everyone [LAUGH].
