(Katie:) Right now we’re learning
about soils and animal science and just getting the basic
overview to get us started. (Greg:) I’m currently employed
by the United States Department of Ag–Farm Service Agency; I’m
a chief program specialist. We use GPS and common land units
to create maps of producers’ farms and we’ll track soils. It’s just a better management tool. (Katie:) You need so many acres to run
your farm for the number of cattle you have and which is the better crop land. (Greg:) There is a lot of
opportunities out there. There’s Ag marketing, nutrient
management, there’s genetics, there’s the agronomy area of the government. (Katie:) I’m currently purchasing
registered cattle a few at a time so that hopefully eventually
someday I can have my own farm.
