Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Business Degree
The working professionals who contact me about this program are individuals who are really motivated to complete this degree. They’re doing well in the company they’re at right now or they’re interested in changing jobs in the future. They’re individuals who have taken anywhere from 45 to 60 college credits over the years. A lot of our students had left college to raise a family or do military service. They can really get done the degree in a timely manner and move on with their career and family responsibilities. It really fit well with my current schedule. With work and family commitments. I was focused on my kids and my school at the same time, but it didn’t affect me much. I really found the strength to do it all. It works out really well for me to be able to go to work full time and then come here in the evenings and have class. What really distinguishes this program from a lot of the other degree completion programs that are out there is the blended format. It’s a hybrid programing model where you come to campus one night a week and you get that face-to-face, on-site instruction with a highly qualified Penn State faculty member. Then, there’s an online component of every class. I always wanted to finish my bachelor’s degree and I didn’t know that Penn State had an accelerated program. You’re getting a lot more done in a shorter amount of time and that’s a huge benefit. I was able to take other classes during the course of the week without changing my daily life. This program that’s in the accelerated format is actually the same bachelor of science in business program at all the different Commonwealth campuses. We’re really proud that we’re able to do that and just bring the accelerated format and the seven-week classes to adult learners. It’s kind of daunting to go back to school and work full time, but I think it’s almost a necessity now. My family is very proud. My father was extremely happy that finally I got something I should have gotten 20 years ago. I think anybody that’s working and has a family but still wants to get back to school and finish a degree that they begun or even start start a degree–I think this program would be an excellent opportunity for them to do that.
