A Warrior’s Words: CCPC College Visits

The CCPC is like the college Career
Planning Center and they set up options for us to think about possibilities for
next year whether that’s college military or straight into employment. We
can go for any college related questions whether it be what the campus is like, what college we should go to or what our next step would be into
going to college. That’s where all of the colleges will come where you’ll meet the
reps. It’s something that’s held by Mariemont High School and it’s just kind
of to help us and guide us along our journey with whether we’re applying to
colleges or what we’re planning to do after high school. We’ve had a bunch of
schools – Ohio State, Miami, Case Western, Washington and Lee, Indiana. There have been so many colleges that have come through including the ones that I’ve applied to
like OSU, Ohio University, the University of Cincinnati. So I had no
idea about St. Michael’s College and when they came to visit I was in CCPC
talking to Mrs. Leszczuk and I got to talk to the rep about the college and
I’m applying there this year. One of the schools that I actually visited, well my
father went there, was the University of Vermont and they had one of the meetings at Mariemont High School, so I thought I definitely had to stop by. And I got a
lot of good information that I didn’t know about the school before and it made me actually want to apply to that school. It helps you get to know the
college better if you can’t travel there, you can understand better and you
get to talk to one of the representatives about the college and
the application process. The college meetings are kind of designed for
college reps to come and talk to students. It gives the students a chance
to ask questions that are more personal that they can have a direct answer to. Having
them come here knowing that I can’t go there makes life so much easier. It’s
hard to drop everything in high school and just go for a few days and visit
some college. It just gives you a better idea of what it’ll be like without
actually being there.
