A Community United By Passion for the University of Kentucky

I mean this is my school, this is where I
went, and these are my people, right? This is why we’re here and why we take care of
the citizens of the Commonwealth. I think as an alumnus of UK, it makes it even more
special. Whenever I’ve been in the world, whether
it’s been with work or tourism, or whenever I’ve lived, places like Seattle, Chicago,
Phoenix, the state of Maine, I always look back to the University of Kentucky as where
I’m most at home. Being A student at the University of Kentucky
lived up to my wildest expectations. All the dreams that I had about being from a small
town — I graduated with 38 — coming here to play in front of 60,000 people, to be able
to represent the University of Kentucky, it was unbelievable. I think UK grads were very proud to have graduated
from the University of Kentucky. We wear it on our sleeve literally all the time with
our t-shirts, with our colors. Every time I come back when I’m driving
into town, there’s just something that brings that memory back. UK provided the foundation that paved the
way for me to archive this dream job where I get to push boundaries of mankind and explore
uncharted territories. It’s a campus that offers something for
everybody. There’s always something going on, and it’s very inclusive. The student
center brings back memories, just walking on the beautiful, which is landscaped and
really pretty in the heart of Lexington. UK gave me the foundation that I needed. It
gave me the tools that I needed. It taught me how to approach really difficult problems,
and how to utilize my resources and ask questions, and learn how to do the things that I don’t
know how to do. For homecoming now, when we go back it is
like a reunion to see folks coming back to campus, a big doing during my era, but actually wanting to come back to show that U of K spirit.
