75 News Govt Colleges to be Set By 2022

The CCEA has decided to increase the number of medical institutions in the country. They have approved to set up 75 new government colleges to existing government Hospitals by 2021-22. The project will be carried out in two phases. In Phase 1, 58 medical colleges will be set up with existing government hospitals. Out of these 39 are ready. Work on the remaining will get done by 2020-21. In Phase 2, 18 colleges have been approved. The construction is in still process. The new medical colleges will be set up in areas that have no medical colleges and in government hospitals that have at least 200 beds. These colleges have more than 15,000 MBBS seats. The increase in doctors will help provide better medical care in government hospitals. The total expenditure for this project will be Rs 24,375 crore.
