10 tips on how to get into college in the US – UCSD (international students)

My name is Oyumergen but I go by Mika so just
call me Mika I was born and raised in Poland. I am originally from Mongolia. Right now I am studying in the US at the University
of California San Diego (UCSD) I know there’s a lot of people out there who want to study
in the US So i just want to give you some tip on how to apply and how to get into schools. Start early and decide early. Because that wasn’t my case and I regret that. Decide right now if you want to go or not
because that will save you a lot of time and you will have much more time to study for
exams and do more extracurriculars. Because I decided in the middle of junior
year of high school and that was too late and it was terrible. My second tip is to do extracurriculars and
what I mean by that is to do things outside of school like joining sports clubs, dancing,
photography, competitive video gaming, volunteer work, anything outside of school. Be dedicated. Do things that you enjoy to do. Schools don’t want students who do things
so just they can get into schools. Stick to extracurriculars throughout the whole
high schools so they know you enjoy it and you are dedicated. Volunteer and hold a leadership position. In my case I fed homeless people and volunteered
at the kindergarten. I also did 2 charity drives. I organized by myself and it counted as a
leadership position. Get good grades. If you want to get into prestigious schools
like Ivy league or UCs you want to have
